Thanks for the info guys. I guess what i need to do is keep my 7mag and try to find a beat up rem 7mag on the cheap that i can take the action and do with it what i want. Shuter, you are right about the 6.5 . My grandfather has an improved 6.5rem mag that will be mine one day or I would seriously consider that route. A 25-06 would also be a good choice to rebarrel. I can't remember where but there is a place that will rent you a reamer. I like to use these guys, if you do rent a reamer get some die blanks and ream them with the same reamer.They also rent tools, like bolt lapping, action wrench, and dies for threading a muzzle brake. If you do rent one make sure you ask how many times it has been used, if the company is worth a crap they will know, if they don't stay away. My next project is a donor Savage action and a drop in barrel, in less than an hour you can have a semi custom in the caliber of your choice. 4D Reamer rentals
