That's exactly what happened in Birmingham in 2014. I gave rides all through Bluff Park for hours between I-65 at Alford Avenue and the Galleria mall. Drove about 100 people home in 4WD LOW and 1st gear. Thousands of cars wrecked, stuck or just couldn't go any further all over town.

AWD cars could make all but the steepest hills. 4WD could go most anywhere if drivers knew what to do. Downhill was nerve wracking at times though if a car in front of you ever stopped.
