My buddy shot at a decent 8 point - edit, 7 point - about an hour ago. Shot twice but rushed them both. Really thick area. We're not finding blood even though it was close. He rushed them but said the 2nd shot felt good. Can a tracking dog find a deer without a blood trail? I called Tom Munoz and he said he may be available this afternoon. This would be my friend's first deer in 14 years.

Yes.....assuming he did hit the deer.

It may be too late now but you might want to give him a little time before tracking him just in case its a gut shot or something. If he was smoked then you would have likely already found him. If he shot the deer at 8:00, that was just an hour and a half ago.

Nice! Who found it? Tom? Ammon? And to answer your original question, yes, a good dog can track injured deer without blood. They can smell gland from between hooves that supposedly put off a certain scent when injured/stressed?
