This was a very special deer for my friend. He and his Dad hunted together since he was young but his Dad got cancer and tragically passed away quickly while my buddy was still in high school. Since then between undergrad, medical school, residency, and starting a family he just basically took a 13-14 year break from hunting. It's been tough to make our schedules line up, and he's passed on some smaller deer this year, but he finally connected on a decent buck. My two hunting goals this year were for my oldest boy to get his first deer (which he did back in November in Texas) and for Justin to get one after so many years. This feels pretty good. He was quite dejected after we looked and couldn't find it. Now he's on cloud nine.
