Chopping block is in my opinion one of the worst places to process a deer they tell you as stated above sure no problem 2-3weeks later though you don't have half your meat and the order is wrong not to mention there high price....the one at the 4way in green pond ain't no better

A friend of mine told me today that he had taken a deer to a processor, they called & told him come pick it up, it’s $108. When he went to pick it up, it was $180. He paid it!

I told him no way in heck I would’ve done that, I’d have just told them it’s yours. I don’t kill many deer per now, but i do all my own butchering. I know for sure that I’ve got my own deer, and how it was handled. Robinhedd

Get a jerky gun and make the ground meat into jerky.

Link

Sucks that they didnt call you but that is the best thing to do with the ground if you dont like it in burgers...

All these horror stories from processors .ale me feel great about the guy I use. I've known him for years as a family friend. His motto is your deer your way. If order summer sausage it's made with your deer your your own personalized batch in 5lb sticks. It may be cooked at the same time as others but its made with yiur deer he prices right and he's quick it usually takes him a week from when I drop one off till he calls sometimes it's sooner. The deer I killed in November weighed 141lbs on the hoof I didn't weigh what I got back but I got 1 5lb stick of summer sausage, tenderloins sliced, ground the rest and had him came it since I didn't have time. $110 bucks and the meat I got back back filled up a 65qt cooler to the top. I'll have to weigh the next one. We processed one at the house and I feel like I didn't gain any extra meat when we did it vs him.

I've taken severla deer to the Chopping Block and was well pleased with their service, selections and final products. The drag it through the creek hot sausage is some counts.

We have a guy that weighs all your meat in front of you. We took 176# of elk this morning. Gives us an idea of how much you'll get back.

This is what I just got back from the chopping block as well right around 50lbs burger on 190 ish lb deer. Their bacon ranch burger is good just fyi.

For specialty meats got to use south's finest in pelham!

I probably know where Cole is talking about. They do a good job but are pricey. Especially if you get bologna or smoked sausage.

Always had good luck with the chopping block & I know the owner personally he's a good guy I'm sure if you had a problem & spoke with him about it he would try to make it right

processing can get real pricey if you want "speciality cuts" like summer sausage/meatloaf.etc.

burger and cube steak shouldn't run over $60 anywhere.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....
