My 870 has 18.5 inch barrel, and is a killer.

I also don’t care for the 870s.
They work but just feels cheaply made to me. I like the little mossy 500s better.
But plenty of good options for a small 20 gauge turkey slayer.
Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

They are cheap made and they’re junky little shotguns honestly but as far as I know they go off every time you shoot em. Plus they are cheap and if you have to sling it off in the creek and take off running you really ain’t out very much. Speaking of personal experience?! Gotta hear this story...lol

But plenty of good options for a small 20 gauge turkey slayer. Who has the best price on a SA 20? Wal-Mart has 4 of the camo 870's in stock for $367 and I'm going to get one unless I can find a good deal on the Mossberg.

I see a tactical with pistol grip and 20" barrel for $367 on that site. I think I'm going that route. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

But plenty of good options for a small 20 gauge turkey slayer. Im with ya on the Mossy 20 guage. I double slammed with my sons. With the factory beads (2) or putting some half decent fiber optic sights on it and its a great turkey killer. At the price add a FF like other recommended. Cant go wrong. Sold it and miss it. Actually I traded it with Drew from here for a 30.06 Win Model 70 which has killed everything I shot at with it...so I take that back. (Thanks Drew) I think Ill go get one after this thread to be honest. Great lil gun.

Meh. Less than a pound lighter and almost 2 inches longer. I could get interested in those things if anybody ever bought one that had both barrels hit in the same spot, but I’ve still never seen it. I have a single shot yildiz .410 that I have to do some work on. If I can get it shooting like I want it will probably become my primary turkey gun once the leaves get on. I can take a chainsaw file and make the barrels shoot anywhere I want them to hit. But I think you are right. With turkey loads it's not likely a gun will center 2 barrels at the same spot without some work.

Both work and neither is a juggernaut of fine craftsmanship. I give the edge to the 870 for 3 reasons: 1. the trigger on the 870 is much more tunable to a rifle like trigger and 2. the forearm is tighter fit and doesnt rattle as much. 3. the availability of an 18.5” barrel with interchangeable chokes.

I haven't done it, but a machine shop with a wire machine along with some trial and error could make a two barrled shot gun shoot the same spot perfectly.

I haven't done it, but a machine shop with a wire machine along with some trial and error could make a two barrled shot gun shoot the same spot perfectly. No doubt they could, but that would be a much bigger project than just taking a file to the end of the barrel. The only problem with the method is that it will open the pattern some, so it works best with screw in chokes. You can start with one a size tighter than you want for final results. I've tested quite a few sxs guns and none of them would shoot tss turkey loads to the same spot with both barrels well enough to suit me. Some of them wouldn't center any loads, but most of them are set up for field loads and do a decent job with them. A sxs gun has to have a certain amount of barrel convergence to account for the recoil. If the barrels were parallel then the recoil would cause the right barrel to shoot to the right and the left barrel to the left. The convergence is supposed to account for the recoil, but the gun makers have to design the gun for a certain amount of recoil, and they all seem to make them to shoot field loads. It's impossible to make a sxs that will center all loads. I wish I had enough money to build a factory and make 20 gauge sxs guns with DT and 24" barrels that weigh 5 lbs and will center 1.625 oz tss loads. I'll bet I could sell at least a dozen of them to other hunters who think like me.
