I eat what I shoot and the little ones digest better. Don't worry to much about it, every ones done it. You live and you learn.

Friend called me one day to tell me he shot a doe. Called back later and asked how to clean it. I said just take it to Doug Petite Processor (spelling?) like you always do. He said it is small. I said they won't care. Later I asked him if he got it loaded up and he said yeah I put it in a 5 gallon bucket and in the passenger seat of his four runner

Shooting a long unantlered deer is a great way to kill a button buck too....

I'll shoot a button head and not think twice. I've seen me do it.

Years ago, I used to intentionally shoot a young, tender one. I called them "crock pot".

Its rare to see buttons heads in a group. The whole thought behind shooting a doe from a group is being as sure as possible there are no button bucks in a group of does once weaned, and being able to judge size (age) better.

I shot this one crossing a fire lane about 175 yards from my stand--thought it was a nice doe. I didn't have a scale, but it felt at least 100 pounds.

I feel better after hearing these stories. This doe weighed in around 70 pounds. I got it hanging now.

Chit that's plenty big. My buddy shot one last year that I threw in the truck with one hand.

Last Friday evening I had 4, yes 4, yearling bucks in a greenfield. Obviously I thought they were does to begin with, but then I noticed one was a spike. The other 3 had no visible antlers but they had a stubby short face.
They eventually came within 30 yards and it was clear that none of them were over 50# or 60#.

Yeah, when the face looks like a little lamb it's probably a little button buck, that's my go-to sign. 50lb'ers.

Did it several times as a young man. Haven't done it in years though not to say it won't happen before season goes out. One reason I try and get my does out of way during bow season. I can usually determine what they are in bow range

Workin for the man, huntin when I can.

70 lbs is a yr and a half old the rest of us are talking about 25-50 lb deer. One where you get 5 packs of burger back from the processor

I shot one hamburger when I was 15, a tiny doe. It was being chased by a bobcat. Shot the deer then the bobcat. Only bobcat I've ever shot, I just like watching them. Anyways, I shot them both in these blue new balance sneakers I used to hunt in for some reason. I'll have to find the picture I have of that day
