had a friend that bought 2 of those old broncos, cut them in half and had them put together to make a 4-door version. (professionally done, not a hack job). Custom-built motor and transmission, custom suspension and roll cage, custom interior. I think he sold it before it was even finished for close to 6 figures.

The frame, mounts and suspension to hold that Cummins up would be quite a trick.

a 4bt cummins would be the ticket in an old bronco

I don't know why, but I want a 1997 Toyota Land Cruiser (80 series) and add a lift, big mud tires, lockers, heavy duty bumpers, racks, and rework/swap engine for more power since the V6 is undersized for the vehicle weight. Can' explain why, but this series is my favorite "modern" go anywhere SUV/Truck.

Old school, I'll take a 1970s Land Cruiser, Bronco, or Scout.

Restored older Broncos are bringing staggering amounts of money.

When in doubt, LS swap.

Had to look that up...I was thinking he drove a Coyote kit car, but that was Hardcastle & McCormick, not Magnum PI.

Not sure if this would be my final answer, but it would be a bad-ass start.

Take your FJ to the BEST body shop in town and tell the adjuster that is the ONLY shop that will be doing the work and you need a rental car.
I recently went through this with a truck driving insurance, had to resort to threatening them with dropping my Avalon off at the body shop and sticking them with storage fees...magically things started progressing very quickly.

Already got the estimate and that is the only body shop that will be doing the work.
I guess I should threaten the storage fees first before I start talking about lawyers and azz whippings, right? I’m a laid back cat but this mess has me stressing.
