Been eyeing these two fryers Bayou is a knock off and I understand a little less quality. The design seems genius! I have a friend that has the 4 gal Bayou and changes peanut oil once a year! I was hoping someone that has one could advise if they are worth the money and/or which brand they choose and why. Thanks.

I’ve got the one made by RVWorks. Works great and is very well made. I filter the oil a couple times a year but only change the oil one a year but not even sure if you need to do it that often. No need to use peanut oil. I’ve seen several made by other companies that are not as well built. Saw one today in Academy but did not look at manufacturer . No need to spend the extra$ on stainless steel if your not leaving it out in the weather. Just my experience hope it helps.

We have 2 of of the Bayou's, a 4 and the 2.5. The 2.5 gets used way more than the 4 gallon...

James if you had to only have one would it be the 4 gal or 2.5? I usually cook for between 3 and 6.

2.5 single basket is what I have and use for my gang of 6. Cooks faster than I can batter things up and get ready to fry. There’s no down time waiting for temp to get back up.

2.5 would be plenty. We usually have a crew of 8 and it does just fine, the bigger one just requires too much oil for a small gathering.

Not a bad deal! I don’t know how well made it is.

Bought the Cajun fryer from Sanford Restaurant equipment in Northport. Good people. Went with the 2.5 gal. My wife first said “hell naw” (she wanted the 4 gal) then I sent her the link to this thread and she agreed. Thanks Aldeer!

You guys that have both sizes does the oil last about the same time in both? Reason I am asking is the distance from the gas pipe to the bottom of the fryer is much closer on the 2.5.

I don’t know if that would make a difference.
I change mine once a year. Drain ,filter and clean it out a couple times during the year.
