Dogs crusie through may property often and It amps up during hunting season when it seems the bitches come in heat more. I have had them come under my stand and 5 mins. later a deer walks by. Some people need to take a chill pill and get their panties out of a wad. Aholes are on both sides of the fence but that does not mean we all have to be one. Respectable people are on both sides of the fence too. I will respect their side the fence and all I ask is for them to respect mine. I my dog goes on his side it will only do it once. All I want is the same from him. When you work all year to get things ready for hunting season and you get their on opening weekend and your kids are so fired up they can't sleep and you get in the stand only to have 15 stinking hounds come busting thru your place is very disheartening. And then have it every weekend. I really think at the big doghunters association meeting they prepare the speech and hand out copies for all to memorize because everyone I've met or heard talk say the same thing. As I said I don't give 2 chits what you do wth your dogs as long as you do it on your property and not mine. I'm out.

I would say that 99% of it is internet bad assery. I doubt many of them would be prepared to go to jail (or die themselves) over fido. Better hope he doesn't end up dead for shooting a man's dog. I know for a fact I'd kill a man over my squirrel dog Wow ! I'm just curious as to why ? Are you just reading all this and getting fired up or are you serious ?

Yeah, lot of keyboard bad asses out there. In real life however bullets fly in both directions and there is no guarantee who will win a fight. Being pissed off over a dog does not make you able to whoop ass like Bruce Lee or add any metal plating to bullet proof your ass. Go on another person's land with violent intentions and you are just as likely to end up getting your ass buried right beside your dog as you are to kill them.

I've seen some hardcore dog hunters in Mobile & Washington county take and blow a dogs brains out or just dump em on the side of the road because he or she wouldn't run a deer, which was probably better for the dog because they were half dead from starvation anyhow...

Hunting pine goats has gotten way too serious and complicated. This. If you cant keep the dogs on your land then don't use them. That said. I am not shooting anyones dog.

I've seen it up here too. Bunch of times. Keep em off property they ain't supposed to be on and we don't have this conversation. It's that simple. "But dogs is dogs and they can't read". Nope, they can't. So it's the responsibility of the owner of the dog to control them. When they have no respect for anyone and don't do that...well that's a problem. Which leads us to why it's been illegal up here for years....the dog hunters did it to themselves.

The thing about dog hunters is that they will eventually destroy dog hunting.
They are their own worst enemies.

I run two squirrel dogs all hunting season, and I run the latest Garmin TT system. I'm forced to hunt mainly WMA's until Feb 10th when there's not a deer hunt, so I travel quite a bit to have a good time and to let them do what they live for. I do my best not to crowd other hunters, but with a cur and a feist, they can easily hunt over 80-100-120 acres in a 2-3 hour hunt. I have 170 acres that I own, and I still don't hunt on it until after deer season goes out, because there's a deer club that touches a half mile of my southern boundary. The deer club president and I talk, being that we are neighbors, and I still don't want to run the risk of them treeing off my property on them, and screwing up any of the member's hunts, and having anyone even think of pulling the trigger on one.
These dogs double as pets and are as loyal to me and my family as any dog a man could have. I have two sons 10 and 5 that would be destroyed if some jack-rump shoots one of them.. not to mention a pretty upset me.
I purposefully go out of my way to minimize the chances of my dogs screwing up anyone's deer hunt... to the point of me passing up very huntable land until the orange army has left the woods. It's a pisser for squirrel hunters, because that only leaves me three - four weekends to hunt at the end of the year. And just in case you're wondering, the time ahead of deer season DNR gave us to make up for extending the deer season into Feb is not good, because the leaves are still on. Early season squirreling is OK for still hunting... not so much for scanning for hidden, treed squirrels. And I still hold my breath every time I take them out, praying that we don't accidentally bump into some crazy deer hunter (or poachers out of season) that thinks I can control where two dogs go every second of every hunt.

I'm the same way. I do my best not to interfere with someone that's deer hunting. I generally hunt national forest and try to stay away from other parked trucks. I've got a track and train collar and an orange collar with info tag on him. Unlike deer and coon dogs that will hunt to the next county, my cur is usually within 100-200 yards from me. While my dog is out hunting, I'm constantly keeping tabs on where he's at.

treemydog, I respect the way you do it, but the problem is you are in the minority with the way you do things from my experience and I grew up dog hunting. I suspect there are more of us that try to do things the right way than many would have you believe. Just remember that and us whenever the state finally decides to eliminate all forms of dog hunting except in February. I believe it's coming at some point. I grew up rabbit hunting with beagles, deer hunting with hounds, coon hunting with hounds, bird hunting with pointers and setters, and now I like to watch the squirrel dogs do their thing. Hunting with well trained dogs can greatly enhance any hunting experience. Many hunters that only equate hunting with sitting in a tree or in a blind or shooting house for hours on end very seldom can appreciate this very historical way to pursue game. And just to even things up a bit, I also like to sit in a tree waiting for a deer to walk by, so I'd like to think I can appreciate both sides of the issue too. There are good and bad on either side of the fence.

There are good and bad on either side of the fence. You are probably correct and I can appreciate all forms of hunting. If we continue to be divided by the bad apples that are in every group (dog, stalk, still, primitive, modern, etc.) then we all will suffer as the anti's will use any means necessary to chip away all hunting rights. We raised fiest for squirrel dogs and old time blue ticks for deer and loved it, but like Mudbug, I live and hunt on my land and can only speak to the experiences I've had with dog hunters in my area. A little aggravation I can and have lived with, if, you are trying to do the right thing, but my time and money are worth as just as much as anyone's and my teenager and I have had more hunts messed up this year than before and it's illegal here to begin with. Game Wardens here are good guys but can't be every where, and to be able to catch the guys AND write tickets for violations is nearly impossible.
