They are good folks. Some are pretentious as hell, others you would never know they had money. I would say that majority of doctors and lawyers in Bham live in Mt Brook, Vestavia, or Homewood. And Greystone

They have some nice schools and damn good wrestlers (and Moms) at most all of them. Too much traffic for the Kid though.

lots of normal folks there...I lived there and went thru high school there. And they kicked you out? Driving on 280 is akin to playing Russian roulette. Finding a parking place, for a full figured truck, is almost impossible. Nobody has a yard. Some houses have a small putting green on one or two sides, but no yards. Where do you park your tractors? And what's up with those roundabout thingys in the middle of the dang road? I thought I was trapped in a national lampoon movie. The streets aren't barely 10' wide. I'm pretty sure, if I could afford to live in mountain brook I could certainly afford someplace better.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

Outback, best compliment I ever got was when a hunter I was guiding for the Wilcox Academy school hunt asked if I had lived in Wilcox Co all my life.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Not sure we are being totally honest with ourselves here... There is a large segment of the population that has Trust Fund - work for Daddy - Grandpa hit it big in something, etc. kind of money. Especially Crestline. That's primarily where kids leave and go to college but wind up back in Birmingham working for Daddy or one of Daddy's buddies. I think the just give each other's kids jobs. i.e. they got a couple hundred million so the kid is a stock broker. Fake Job. Kinda like Fake News. That sort of thing.
The rest of the city is primarily normal people.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

My wife is from there. Third generation doctor's daughter. She's great and her parents are awesome. Grew up hunting and fishing. My wife doesn't like deer hunting, but we go dove hunting and fishing all the time. There's a city redneck culture over there to a degree. Just watch the lifted trucks roll into the high school parking lot on any given day. I'm not in Mnt Brook, but I can see their stadium lights and hear the football announcer during home games. Dallas County was from around there I thought?

Dallas County was from around there I thought? He may have lived there after college, but Dallas County grew up in Dallas County.

How short sighted of you. There are a lot of good regular folks in Mountain Brook. Most have made money, and work hard for it. They pay extra taxes so their children can get a very good education. Yes, the Mountain Brook residents are proud to live there, but are people who live in Jasper and Hueytown and warrior and Tuscaloosa and Northport. The city is not closed off from the rest of the world, anyone is welcome. I lived in the Brook for a long time and have very good friends who live there now, My son and grandson live there. There are hunters and fishermen all over the place. I have not run into rudeness in any of the commercial establishments. The streets are kept clean because the residents have a civic pride that a lot of places don't. When Doekiller's house burned just before Christmas the people of Mountain Brook came together to make sure they were alright, and gave them so much.and many merchants opened their doors for them so they could get clothes and stuff they needed at no charge. They were fed without cost by some of the best restaurants around. And no one expected anything in return. The crime rate is low, but stuff happens like ev erywhere. There are drugs, but what town or city in Alabama does not?
So where are you coming from, hating Mountain Brook? I can name a lot of places I would not want to live in, but Mountain Brook is not on that list. You had me until Jasper...lol
