LOL, he didn't say death to all the people that live there. He said he would shoot himself if he had to live there. I feel that way about most cities and include Mountain Brook in that. Y'all don't pick on Outback to hard. He's sensitive.

They have some nice schools and damn good wrestlers (and Moms) at most all of them. Too much traffic for the Kid though.

And they kicked you out?
Driving on 280 is akin to playing Russian roulette.
Finding a parking place, for a full figured truck, is almost impossible.
Nobody has a yard. Some houses have a small putting green on one or two sides, but no yards.
Where do you park your tractors?
And what's up with those roundabout thingys in the middle of the dang road?
I thought I was trapped in a national lampoon movie.
The streets aren't barely 10' wide.
I'm pretty sure, if I could afford to live in mountain brook I could certainly afford someplace better.

Outback, best compliment I ever got was when a hunter I was guiding for the Wilcox Academy school hunt asked if I had lived in Wilcox Co all my life.

Not sure we are being totally honest with ourselves here... There is a large segment of the population that has Trust Fund - work for Daddy - Grandpa hit it big in something, etc. kind of money. Especially Crestline. That's primarily where kids leave and go to college but wind up back in Birmingham working for Daddy or one of Daddy's buddies. I think the just give each other's kids jobs. i.e. they got a couple hundred million so the kid is a stock broker. Fake Job. Kinda like Fake News. That sort of thing.

The rest of the city is primarily normal people.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

A stockbroker isn't a job I would take to be on easy street.

My wife is from there. Third generation doctor's daughter. She's great and her parents are awesome. Grew up hunting and fishing. My wife doesn't like deer hunting, but we go dove hunting and fishing all the time. There's a city redneck culture over there to a degree. Just watch the lifted trucks roll into the high school parking lot on any given day. I'm not in Mnt Brook, but I can see their stadium lights and hear the football announcer during home games. Dallas County was from around there I thought?

I live in Mountain Brook and wouldn’t live anywhere else anywhere around Birmingham. They best schools, lowest crime, and friendliest places around. Everyone around me hunts, fishes and drinks cold beer.

Watching carpool at one of the best elementary schools is one of the most pleasant experiences a man can have with his clothes on. Yoga pants and tennis shorts as far as the eye can see.

This is one of the few communities left that kids walk to school, walks to their friend’s houses and walk to one of the villages to eat or hang out.

I would live in the country if I didn’t have a son in school who I want to have the best education available

I have been seeing deer in your mother in law’s old back yard most mornings with I run at Jemison Park.

The city is not closed off from the rest of the world, anyone is welcome. I lived in the Brook for a long time and have very good friends who live there now, My son and grandson live there. There are hunters and fishermen all over the place. I have not run into rudeness in any of the commercial establishments. The streets are kept clean because the residents have a civic pride that a lot of places don't.
When Doekiller's house burned just before Christmas the people of Mountain Brook came together to make sure they were alright, and gave them so much.and many merchants opened their doors for them so they could get clothes and stuff they needed at no charge. They were fed without cost by some of the best restaurants around. And no one expected anything in return. The crime rate is low, but stuff happens like ev erywhere. There are drugs, but what town or city in Alabama does not?

So where are you coming from, hating Mountain Brook? I can name a lot of places I would not want to live in, but Mountain Brook is not on that list.

You had me until Jasper...lol

I always get screwed up driving through the brookwood village, but other than that I love mountain brook. I also graduted and grew up in vestavia though. I worked through high school at the western in vestavia, and I also worked there while going to Jeff State. Western is probably one of the best places to get meat and nice wine in the entire country. That mountain brook store brings in some serious money.

My best friends mother also owns Davenports and I always enjoy stopping by there with my buddy and we always get to eat for free. I have also always enjoyed doing work in mountain brook, because I never have to worry about not getting paid for anything. My wife and I live in McCalla now and I’d love nothing more than to have enough money to get back to mountain brook or vestavia for my kids to go to school there.

Good ole Mountain Brook... The place for wannabees or old school money. The place with some of the finest wimmens some of which you couldn't or wouldn't want to try to afford. A place where a home that needs to be renovated will cost you $300k. If you don't have money keep on rolling. The place where a membership in the country club will run you more than some peoples' homes. A good place to rub noses with some of the more prominent folks in Birmingham. A great little village if you can afford it!

I worked at the country club for 3 days before I realized that my graduate program didn't allow me to have a job. I got so much free beer to take home those 3 days.
