With good land, even I can limit out. I've killed a couple of limits with all double beards.

Do these stone cold killers that kill all the 3+ year old birds, let the young ones walk? Do you check Spurs like whild Bill? One of the dumber things I've heard on this forum. I can assure you, whether a man kills 5 long spurred birds or 5 two year olds is simply a roll of the dice.
I would have to disagree with that. Beat me to it. Disagree with what? Either one of y'all make a habit of letting a long beard walk off because he came in on a string like a two year old?

Also, those who only hunt public land tend to get to know where the birds like to go and all after years of hunting the same public land, so while they are tough turkeys to hunt/takes a different strategy, I don’t consider them too much different than those who only hunt private land. I don’t think killing a limit says how good a Hunter you are because I know people who are terrible at hunting that kill 3 or so a year because they are overrun with birds. Do I think Alabama hunters who consistently kill birds to be among the best with Mississippi hunters? Absolutely...I also think you can tell who the killers are are the ones who consistently kill the 3 plus year old dominant birds...a lot of the times also they are the ones who have the most respect towards a bird as well as the ones who do the least bragging...there are a lot of guys on here such as some of the ones Jughead mentioned (even BrentM lol) that are stone cold killers, and I appreciate the wisdom they have shared through this forum. To answer the op's question, yes, I think people who kill a limit every year are better hunters. I'm sure there are some exceptions. Time, land, and skill all play into it, but these guys killing 5-10 even 15 birds year in and year out don't completely luck into it. Man idk what’s gotten you so fired up but to answer your question, yea I hunt with one who every year calls in birds yet doesn’t kill them because they are younger birds...me? Nah I just kill em, but also you misinterpreted what I was saying...I was saying these are the guys that enjoy hearing about a bird that no one can kill and going in and killing him.

Been a long day, I apologize for being pissy. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you to some extent, but how does your buddy know they are young birds? Maybe you all just have better eyes than me.

Put the guys who kill a limit every year and the guys that only kill a few together on public land and see who comes out empty handed. Some guys who limit out have good land to hunt but most are damn good turkey hunters.

Access to land with turkeys = 45% Time to hunt = 45% Skill of hunter = 10% Agreed. You do not have to have world class calling skills to kill birds but you do have to have the birds and have the time to be in the woods.

Access to land with turkeys = 45% Time to hunt = 45% Skill of hunter = 10% thus sayeth PCP - and ya, i agree ... i think you can have a 10% max on skill, but w/no time nor land to hunt, the percentages work damatically against you ...

With good land, even I can limit out. I've killed a couple of limits with all double beards. That takes Whild Bill skills and patience to let the single beards walk and just focus on multi-beard tactics! That’s awesome!

there's no right answer to this, but you cant say one guy is better because he killed a limit and his buddy killed 3, too many factors weigh in on a subject like this IMO. I've gotten to the point I don't even care about killing my limit but it is nice if I can accomplish it between my guided hunts and calling turkeys up for my wife and friends. calling first turkeys up for people is what excites me these days and I have no problem watching more turkeys die than I pull the trigger on in a season or my lifetime for that matter.

You can't say one Hunter is better than another when it comes to turkeys some birds just want to die others not so much. I will say limiting out on public or private is no easy thing.

Thanks for the complimints guys. But I know im not the best but I know how to put them down. I know we have been fortunate to hunt lans with lots of birds and that definately helps. I think one key is never overcalling. We alway scratch in and I will often scratch more than actually calling. Curosity kets most killed. And knowing when a bird is willing to play or not. I see alot of folks wast alot of time on one bird than never gonna present the opportunity to kill when they could leave it and strike another bird. Last pro tip, if you can target older birds they are often easier to kill since they fee lthe need to breed to carry on their genetics. Cant wait for the opener and I hope everyone has a great seasom.
