I’m about to buy a new boat and I’m strongly considering a G3. Probably a 17 or 18’ boat.
Does anyone here had any bad experiences with them?

I've fished out of one, very stable for an aluminum. I liked it.

BGH, ride in an Xpress with the "Hyper Lift" hull before you buy the G3. I don't think there's a better alumimum boat out there.

My buddy has a 17ft g3 with a 40hp. Quiet and pretty fast. With 3 grown men and gear on glass water id say we ran about 40mph at most. I was surprised. Its probably a 2010 or 2008 model im guessing. I like it. I would buy one Hate to do this and I'm not trying to be an azz but you weren't running anywhere near 40 in a 17' G3 with a 40 hp on it, loaded with 3 men and gear. Probably closer to 22-24 mph. I started not to say anything or correct you but some people dont know much about boats and I'd hate for someone to buy one off the lot then find out that it wont do what they thought it would, once they put it in the water. G3's own performance test data on a 15.5' (smaller, lighter boat) with a 40 Yam shows 29.1 mph with just the driver. On a 17' boat you'll be underpowered and wishing you had bought a 60 -70 hp if you went with a 40. G3's are good boats but like someone else said, if you're looking at aluminum, you really need to look at and run one of the Express boats with the hyper-lift hull design. Best aluminum boat out there right now.

Add another person and it doesn't really change. I'd get an express everyone that I've seen has held up great. Dad's is 13 years old and still looks brand new

Beadle, the one that I'm restoring is 20 years old. I stripped it down to the bare aluminum. Took everything off and out of it. I found 2 cracked welds. They were both on the top side of the front deck. Granted I couldn't see the under the floor to check those, but IMO that's pretty dang impressive for a 20 year old aluminum bass boat.

Wouldn't surprise me if those were from the eye on the front of the boat hitting/bouncing on the roller

Tfd1224 has a 1872 with a 90 yamy. It's the bee's knees! He had some really minor issues with the motor but considering all it's been through id say it is a very tough dependable boat. It’s an 1860 but I’ve put it through lots of serious use and it’s survives it all. I did have to rebuild the lower unit 2 years ago but that’s after 3 or 4 pretty high speed collisions between the prop and stumps and rocks. Something had to give sooner or later. I have never had a worry that the motor wouldnt crank or anything like that though. That boat has done it all and i couldn’t be happier with it. Very stable, shallow draft, built like a tank, and will run 42 mph. That boat should be in horrible shape considering the places i fish, but aside from one dent from getting blown into a very sharp pointed rock and a couple of scratches here and there, she still looks new 7 years later. I fish below Logan Martin dam a lot and it’s solid rock there and i fish it a lot with the water off when in most spots it 4 ft to 6 inches deep so she’s seen a rock or two. You won’t go wrong with a g3. Id say the draft on my boat is about 8 inches and that’s with 2 guys that weigh 250 each and a 500 lb bait tank in the floor.
Yeah c’mon. Daniel White
