Interstate no longer has a deep cycle. They have a dual purpose but not a true deep cycle. The Duracell sold at sams is a deka intemadator agm. Deka is leading in the agm as far as price and reliably. Lead acid duralast and super start are in the a race for who can produce the worse batterie. Never start and deka would be my choice in lead acid. You can get a true deep cycle in deka but I haven't seen a ever start in a deep cycle. I was running deka on my blazer and never had a issue. I'm going to buy deka 31 agm for my trolling motor when I replace them. It really boils down to what do want to spend. Most lead acid are all the same now. One company produces interstate, super start, duralast(a few of them), and ever start all come off the same assembly line. Excide screwed the pouch about a year ago and now at the mercy of Johnson controls. So you can add them to list with the others. Agm has gotten more affordable but odyssey and optima are still to proud. Deka/ Duracell has the better pricing and warranty. Lithium is honestly the best for weight and life. But I can't put more in battery than I have in my boat. I've sold and delt with all of them. Deka has the best thing for boats in a affordable platform. By the way the Duracell 31 is on sale at sams for less than my cost on a intemdator.

Way back when I had some Champions that lasted 5 and 6 years...their replacements were disappointing, though. I'd go with Everstart, too.

Yeah a 27 group may be small for some, but my boat is a 10 ft bass tender that I bowfish out of. The 27 is big enough that it melted the trolling motor plug and socket from continuous use so I had to straight wire it to the battery.
Point being I don't think a man can go wrong with an AC Delco. Buy the size that is best for you.
I have run Everlast. My experience was that they were hit or miss...

The heat was from resistance, electrical friction. I’ve got Duracell AGM 31’s on my current boat and ran them on my old boat. Best bang for the buck imo. I’ll run lithium’s one day, AGMs will do for now though.

I tend to agree with you but the wires are large with good connections. But, splices generate loss in the form of heat and cause the meltdown. I replaced the first set of plugs with brand new ones and melted them down too. My main problem is that I was pretty much wide open for 4-6 hours at a time. Normal trolling probably would have been fine. After I spliced and soldered the wires I had no more issues.

Theres a guy on youtube pushing $1000 trolling motor batteries. He got one free for his kayak. Really? How dumb can anyone get? Most peope are fishing out of a Kayak that costs less. https://www.solar-electric.com/batt...mqvP42gIVxRuBCh3BCgnoEAQYBCABEgKNqvD_BwE
