Fluffy that story is bullchit. To fire a 1911, the grip safety must be depressed, not just the trigger pulled. Unless you've carried one everyday for a couple of years you don't know this, but it is a fact. Who you calling fluffy you old fart? I'm plenty familiar with how a 1911 operates, just saying that there are accidental discharges, and linked one for proof.

Will you please explain how or why this would happen with a Glock? I am just curious. Glocks are no different than pit bulls. You never know when one will turn on you. They both oughta be outlawed.

I guess you're sayin you gave up yer old habits. I heard Gary still misses you! No matter what any investigator says, it's impossible to fire a 1911 unless the safety is depressed and the trigger pulled. I saw incidents in the Army that claimed the same thing, but no way to fire one unless both are done at the same time. (Snowflake) :grin That link you posted mentioned the trigger being fowled by the clip, but no mention of the grip safety. I'd say as in most misfires someones bugger picker was involved.

Too many Leos for too long put their fingers on the trigger as the pulled it out of the holster relying on the safety being engaged, which is a different issue, pulling it out in the heat of the moment they also pulled the trigger. Miami, which is the first city that I can remember going to Glocks, almost abandoned them after several officers shot themselves in the ass training.
This is happening less and less often as more emphasis is put on doing it correctly in training.
To be clear, the gun is doing exactly what it was supposed to do, the operator wasn't. I suspect, but do not know if this is the case for the Chief.
Prayer for his recovery.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Rule #3 Keep your finger off the trigger untill sights on target. Seen AD's with every type of handgun. Are glocks ugly? Yes they work too.

Perch, according to the article, a clip had gotten wedged in the trigger guard. When he went to holster the firearm, it discharged. He had the grip safety depressed as he was holstering it and the clip lodged on the holster depressing the trigger. I love 1911’s and used to be like Outback about Glocks. My main CC is now a Glock 23.

Anything getting inside the trigger guard can pull the trigger on a Glock.
Up until about 2 years ago, a Glock was my daily carry. I have carried Glocks since 1991, and the only AD from any of them was when a dumbass buddy picked it up and started playing with the trigger. He dang near shot a hole through his floor board.
I have seen the stories about folks having ADs, but everyone has come back to something got in the trigger guard. If you aren't safety conscience enough to pay attention when re-holstering, you probably shouldn't be carry a Glock, or any gun for that matter.
Having said that, when Glocks first hit the market, there were real ADs. The carbon steel parts were rusting and causing the firing pins to stick in the fired position. The guns would fire when a round was chambered. That's why all Glock metal trigger parts are stainless now.
There are two types of gun enthusiasts ... Those who have been F#CKED by PTG and those who will be!

There are no accidents, just screw ups.
With that said Glocks are devil’s spawn for Austrian girly men to play with. Put some American steel in your hand when you come out to play with the big boys.

Actually I don't hate glocks just because of their poor design. I really hate toy guns, made of plastic. Real men tote iron. There's only one reason that most LEOs carry a Glock. They were the low bidder.

I carried a glock for years, shot one yesterday. You have to stick yer damn finger in the guard to fire them. I have found them safer than any 1911 45, which I carried for many years. Bullschit. Dang, a Paw Paw argument. Sh!t bout to get real

I carry a Glock for one simple reason, I shoot it better when under stress. Period. FTR, my Glock 22 spent an unknown number of years at the bottom of Eastlake. I replaced the springs and barrel and good as new.
I watched a Glock rep at Gadsden drive over a mile with two Glocks tied dragging off the rear bumper of his car. Got to the range, cut em loose, and started shooting. Yes, they were drug loaded. No malfunctions.
