When I took up both hunting three years ago I went to a box store to get my first bow. The man did not measure my draw length he just handed me a bow and had me draw it back and said that I had a 29 inch draw. It wasn’t until several months later that I realized that I actually had a 30 inch drawl and this was confirmed at an actual bow shop. The arrows that I have been shooting are 28 3/4 at the valley of the nock. I have been looking at increasing the length of my arrow to 30.5 and increasing the spine stiffness from 340 which is the spine on my current arrow to 300. My current set up is 70 pound 30 inch draw shooting Easton FMJ 340 spine with a 100 grain broad head. Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

At 28 3/4”, 70# and 100gr tip you should have been shooting a 300. If you increase your length to 30 1/2” you’re going to need a 250 spine.

Thanks Shaw For that i information can you recommend a heavy arrow in that spine, I am looking at the Easton FMJ 5MM dangerous game since it is offered in a 250 spine

Yeah I know there’s not a lot of options in the 250s , the FMJ’s that I’m shooting now are 11.3 grains per inch.

One of the reasons that I am going with an FMJ it’s because of the weight and penetration, and because I’m one of those people that if something can go wrong it will, and I’ve never heard of a FMJ exploding when shot like a carbon fiber arrow.

After thinking about it I think I will take your advice that way I can go with a 300 spine
