We had to cut down a bunch of trees in the "front yard" of the cabin in order to clear the way for the septic system field lines. Once all that is installed and smoothed over it looks like we are going to have a rather large "lawn" that we never anticipated or wanted. I want to be wood working, forging knives, hiking, hunting, fishing, gardening, etc... Not mowing grass up there. So I'e started to research into clover lawns. Apparently they were not uncommon back before the 1940's and they are becoming a thing again. No mowing, less water, they look nice and they have strains now that have very small leaves and even smaller flowers. Plus they are good for the soil. Some information: http://cloverlawn.org/It looks like our cabin would be on the very lower edge of the growing range for this particular over seed (I'm sure there are many more varieties.) https://www.earthturf.com/products/earth-turf-overseedTo give you an idea of what I'm going for, here's a nice looking micro-clover lawn: (And a nice BMW E30 in the background too.) Hell... Radiant heat, clover lawn, the next think you know I'll be wearing Earth shoes, eating granola and hugging a tree.

How about summer and winter food plot mix.. Critters will keep it mowed and you can hunt over it.

A lot of yards have a large component of clover. Probably not intended, but still. Yeah. Can't make it grow in a food plot, but the yard will be full of clover. I'm convinced it only grows when mixed with centipede grass.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

I'm convinced it only grows when mixed with centipede grass. I'm going to do some more research and hopefully order some seed that is specifically for my intended purpose. I think just like grass seed you have to water the crap out of it at first.

I plant my back yard in a greenfield every year. Just throw and mow. Comes up like a champ.
