I have had 2 exmarks, one a Lazer Z about 10 years ago, and I bought a exmark pioneer 48 inch entry level commercial 2 years ago, I just recently picked up 19 lawn accounts (bi-weekly) it has a 21 hp kawasaki and 170 hours and seems to do well, I have pondered upgrading myself, and will probably go with another Lazer z If you upgrade, give the brethren on here a shot at your equipment. Send me a PM

I bought the Ferris is2100z with four wheel suspension and it is great. Not sure how much Simplicity mowers are but I paid $8k on sale. As I posted in Shiloh’s thread, it generally comes down to transaxle, air intake and suspension that separates commercial mowers from residential mowers.

I narrowed it down to exmark and husler leaning toward the exmark but I was looking at them the other day and they make their own engines now. I’m kinda sold on the Kawa engine so now I giving Hustler another look and I have had good luck dealing with Maynard’s in the past. You can't go wrong with the exmark. They are amazing machines.

I can tell you what not to buy and that's a Husqavarna. I had one of those for the last 6 years and it's the biggest POS I have ever owned. I put about 20 mandrels on it over 6 years. I've replace pulleys, clutches, wire harnesses, safety switches, steering brackets, and rebuilt the deck at least 3 times. The friggin thing broke every time you cranked it. I hated that thing with a passion and nearly spent as much time fixing it as I did cutting grass with it.
My Dad has had a Husqvarna for about 6 years or so, too, and has the same troubles with the deck. The engine is solid, on it, but it seems like he replaces a mandrel at least once a week...I mean it's a CONSTANT and ongoing thing! Damn thing uses more mandrels than it does gas.

I just purchased the Exmark Radius for $5000. I upgraded the seat to air ride and it was worth it. This is the entry level commercial zero turn and I love it. Mine is a 48" cut. It has the Exmark motor. No problems so far.

personally have had more problems out of kawasaki than kohler. but there both good engines. kohler also makes alot of cheap motors found on budget lawnmowers while I mostly see kawasaki on commercial. toros z turn if you want a smooth cut, hustlers one of the most rugged, and exmark has the best reputation, there also some with bad reputations that are worth considering just because they are alot cheaper such as cub cadet and bad boy. I hate cub cadets but they do have the most mower for the money. personnaly I looked all over the south for a used hustler 2500. The 2500 is an old model that was way ahead of its time. it has a 72" deck, hydraulic deck lift, steel gas tank and a single joystick to steer. when it came out hustler used real heavy duty hydraulic components, instead of just stamped pumps and motors that are just barely made to last, anyways I like to brag on my mower, I would suggest buying something your excited about because a fancy mower can make the job a little funner.

Big Dog has the best warranty, 7 years. I bought the Stout MP. Love it so far. ![[Linked Image]](https://s15.postimg.cc/kvdowwyjf/F72940_F0-_BF4_F-4_A80-8904-32836258_BAC5.jpg) I have one also and it's a solid mower, can't beat a 7 year warranty either. They are made by Hustler and every part is interchangeable with the comparable Hustler machine.

I'm in the market too this winter to replace my 50" Dixie Chopper with the 27hp Generac. I'm looking at either the 60 or 72" Kubota ZD1211 with the Diesel engine. More than likely go with the 72" deck for both quicker mow times and higher blade tip speeds, and I want the diesel for more torque and hope to make it last and be my last mower purchase ever. Unless you have a pool table (read almost perfectly flat) for a yard get the 60. Every time. The 72 will trim under bushes and split rail fence like a champ because the left side of the deck sticks almost a foot outside the tire. Trouble is, it'll scalp like an Apache if the ground rolls very much or if you make a super sharp turn to the right, it'll dip down a little and cut deeper. If you're cutting tall grass you can run faster in the same conditions with the 60" deck so you're acres per hour won't be a whole lot different.

For anyone considering a new diesel zero turn anything over I believe 31 hp has emissions with regens. Actually 25 hp is the cutoff. Kubota sells a 24.8 without the DPF and a 31 with it. Note that neither uses DEF (diesel exhaust fluid). A mower is about the best application to have a regen filter on. It spends 99% of its time at full throttle, operating temp and a decent load on it. Very little PM (particulate matter, the soot that the filter catches) is produced like that. Slow speed, cool engine temps and throttling up and down are what gives a DPF fits.

I've had a Hustler for over 10 years now and it's been an awesome machine. It's the HustlerZ 54" cut with 23 HP Kawasaki engine.

I’m kinda sold on the Kawa engine so now I giving Hustler another look and I have had good luck dealing with Maynard’s in the past. The eXmark zero turns come in three main configurations. The Quest, which is their homeowners version of a Zero turn The Radius, that is like a light commercial grade And the Lazer, that is a sure enough heavy duty commercial mower. Of each of those categories there are three sub categories. The E series comes with a eXmark engine. The S series has a eXmark engine. And the X series has a Kawasaki engine. I believe with the Lazer series though, you can pretty much get whichever engine you prefer, including a diesel and maybe a propane. Don't quote me on the last part though. Mine is the Radius X and so far it has been great.

They are real good folks to deal with. I've sent a couple of friends over there and they concur with my take.
