That new Spartan is a bad mutha! Don't know anything about them other than looking at / sitting on at the deer show, but consider me impressed. Can't go wrong with a Kubota, but get ready to 2nd mortgage your house to buy the sucker.

I like the Scag, but whatever you get make sure it has a Kawasaki engine if it's a gas burner.

How much you got to spend to get a decent zero turn? I got a freakin’ Husquevarna lawn tractor that drives me crazy. As my brother said, they were “made to be worked on.”
I’m not real mechanical. I need to get something I can run a lot with minimal maintenance.
My first tractor was a lil John Deere LX 176. I rode that thing for about 16 years without much trouble at all. Even mowed the church cemetery for 2 years with it.
I need that kind of dependability.

For commercial grade, about $12,000

I have had 2 exmarks, one a Lazer Z about 10 years ago, and I bought a exmark pioneer 48 inch entry level commercial 2 years ago, I just recently picked up 19 lawn accounts (bi-weekly) it has a 21 hp kawasaki and 170 hours and seems to do well, I have pondered upgrading myself, and will probably go with another Lazer z

I’ve been impressed with my Toro Timecutter 42”. It’s a residential model but has a 23hp Kohler. That’s a lot of HP per blade inch and does a great job. Of course I’m using it as it was intended and not cutting several acres per day on it.

One is my personal mower, one is for work, and the other two were for co-workers. I went ?hustler because, at that time, the dealer was closer and had a good reputation. There are several good mowers out there. A good dealer should be a significant factor in your decision.

I looking hard myself as I ran across this review on the Hustler.

If you upgrade, give the brethren on here a shot at your equipment.

Must have:

Kawasaki engine
Heavy fabricated deck
1" spindles
ZT3100 or larger drives
Very large rear tires
Seat adjustable for your weight

I bought an eXmark Radius X series with a 52" deck last year that I'm very pleased with so far. It has all of the features I listed above. There are a number of others out there that I seriously considered and I think I would have probably been just as happy with, but that's what I got. No issues so far. And it came with a 4 year 1,000 hour warranty.

I looked at Kubota, Gravely, eXmark, Scag, and Hustler. I'm sure any of those would have been good mowers. I was originally leaning towards a Kubota diesel but decided I had better get back to earth because I haven't even bought a lottery ticket and don't have any rich aunts.

My only issue with most ZTR mowers is that you can't sip a beverage while mowing, due to the need to use both hands.
