More than likely go with the 72" deck for both quicker mow times and higher blade tip speeds, and I want the diesel for more torque and hope to make it last and be my last mower purchase ever.

Unless you have a pool table (read almost perfectly flat) for a yard get the 60. Every time. The 72 will trim under bushes and split rail fence like a champ because the left side of the deck sticks almost a foot outside the tire. Trouble is, it'll scalp like an Apache if the ground rolls very much or if you make a super sharp turn to the right, it'll dip down a little and cut deeper.

If you're cutting tall grass you can run faster in the same conditions with the 60" deck so you're acres per hour won't be a whole lot different.

It's not pool table flat in the back (the front is) but I think flat enough for a 72 to work for me. I have considered the 60 too because of this.....who knows right now. We'll see in a few months when I get serious about spending the money.

our church has a Hustler and I have a Gravely. I like my Gravely a lot better. Seems the hustler sits lower or something and I notice as I go over uneven terrain seems the hustler feels as it flexes somewhat. Doesn't feel as rigid as the Gravely. Not sure where u are in North Bama. But I like Garnett's in Hartselle. They sale gravely and exmark. Good group of guys and they have quick service turn around if you buy from them. They used to offer a service plan where they would come get your mower, service it and bring it back to you. This helped them from getting super swamped in early spring.

I have a John Deere Z465 with a 23 HP Kawasaki. It has only 290 hours on it, but I'm always having to replace parts. There's a reason JD stores have such a big parts counter. But this seems to be common with almost all brands of zero turn mowers.

No it only seems to be common with yours.
The reason we pay big $$$$ for commercial mowers is the reliability.
The only parts we regularly replace are blades.

The real question is which one is best for a rough uneven yard?
