One of my brothers and his wife live in Beaufort. They're safely here in Bama now but everyone up there is bracing for a big one.

Friend of mine who works for Maryland tourism said the waves there already are 10-12 feet and they've closed state facilities along the beaches. That wind-whipped side along SC, NC and Maryland, including DC and on up, is going to take a hell of a beating.

We have customers already letting their crews go to get out of the way of this thing. It’s gonna get wild if this thing keeps on the predicted path. I’m sure it’ll wreak havoc on some of the sites they are working on in Myrtle.

I got some buddies in Salisbury. One of em has a house in newberne with a nice boat.
He got his boat inland today but he's a fireman in Salisbury so he's having to stay put.

One of my coworkers in Columbia, SC said the interstates are reversing at noon tomorrow.

Been there. It's really weird, driving the wrong way on the interstate.

Good gracious. They're predicting a possible 2 feet of rain in SC and/or NC from this monster.

Not to take away from Florence, but a few models are putting isaac in the gulf now too

My cousin is a building inspector in Myrtle beach. He has to stay. Said they are supposed to have a National guard chopper on standby to assist with assessing damage afterwards.

Reyn, where are they staying in Myrtle? A secure location or fortified house or underground bunker?

Myrtle May get spared the worst of it but the storm surge is going to be the kicker for them. A lot of condos and hotels are going to get flooded if the surge is anywhere close to predicted.

That storm liable to drift west on us. Of course very weak but they drawing it drifting west a bit more.

Damn sure would not want to be underground. That could easily become underwater.

They don't know where Florence is going.

Looks like she may just slowly jog down the eastern coast line. That’d be a nightmare.

This outlandish-seeming prospect gained support from the 18Z run of the GFS model. It painted a very similar picture, with a landfall a bit farther north, near Charleston, on Sunday. The 18Z track from the experimental GFS FV3 model is very similar to the GFS track.

If this happens, I can't even imagine the devastation along the coast..

Not sure. Last night he was at his apartment. My aunt's house is a 1/2 mile from the beach at North Myrtle beach. They are not far from N Carolina line. My aunt and other relatives have left for now. We have a bunch of family in S Carolina. Most were tobacco farmers forever but that changed years ago.
