Quality of feed could b affecting bluegill growth. Catfish can convert plant proteins to meat better than bluegill. They need feed with animal protein which is much more costly, plus your cats gonna slurp it up

I’m feeding high protein dog food. Kibbles and bits for small dogs. I grind some up for the smaller fish

Yep, corn and soybean meal are first two ingredients. High protein fish food(the good stuff) first two ingredients are fish meal and poultry by product meal

I work at a fish hatchery. The lowest protein feed we feed is used to maintain catfish brooders. It is 32%. The fingerlings get started on feed that is 50%. As they get bigger, they are worked to feed in the high 40s then the low 40s then to 36%. When they get to the 32%, they are about as big as we want them.

I’m not an expert on fish farming by any means, I picked kibbles and bits because it’s supposed to be 36% protein and mostly bone and bone meal from what I understand. That was higher than any of the floating fish foods that I found. What’s a good fish food for the bream

Good fish food Purina gamefish chow. Best food Aquamax(also made by Purina).

Purina products are what I am familiar with, however there are other brands, Cargill is another

That name brings back some good memories! I met him once when he was fishing Hood Lake over in Westville. My great uncle owned the lake. I used to enjoy watching his show when i was visiting.
