I don’t understand why anybody would choose having to let you truck run for thirty minutes to melt the ice on your windshield before leaving for work. Brush the snow off your door handle and door seals so the snow doesn’t fall in the floor board and cause your windows to fog up from the interior. Shovel snow of your walkway and driveway. Have road salt eat out the exterior of your vehicle. Drive home from work in white out conditions. Go to bed at night and wonder if the pipes will be frozen or no power due to a frozen limbs snapping power lines in two. Sounds like misery to me. And it is. I’ve dealt with that chit before and never again. I’ll take 5 months of excessive heat and humidity anytime over freezing cold wind chills and dark cold weather. Like Josh said. That chit will kill you. Big baby... Seriously, as long as you're prepared, it's not nearly as bad as you think. It's really amazing how we all deal with the snow around here. We get a lot of lake effect storms. Two or 3 ft overnight isn't uncommon. By the end of the day we're all cleared out and good to go. If you embrace winter, it's awesome. I disagree with it killing ya. I think it's good for a person to be out in the cold, fresh air. Did I mention ice fishing? A few days,or weeks maybe. But not three months

I don’t ever want to be in Buffalo NY during the winter again. Or Hamburg. Hell naw! White outs from lake effect snow. Snow coming down so fast that they can’t plow it fast enough. Then you have a no driving ban. Mountain of dirty snow in the malls parking lot that doesn’t melt until May. Bullshiton that! I’ve spent a many of summers in Central and South America in BDU’s and jungle boots. Plus grew up in South Louisiana. Alabama summer’s ain’t chit!

I'm glad all you girls can't handle the cold. I'm moving to Montana for two reasons, to escape the heat, and the people.

Were I a single man with no immediate family that I wanted to be near, Bozeman would be looking reeeaalllly appealing right now
Scratch that, I had Bozeman and Missoula backward, geographically, in my mind. Missoula has a LOT more public land in its immediate vicinity. Missoula is my vote

We went back out west for vacation this year we like it so much. BUT You also gotta look at housing prices out there. Most places the housing is really high. Ketchum, Sun Valley, Id. Bozeman, Missoula, I really cant afford most places out there.
Not looking to move to population centers. There's some reasonably priced places, but not in those cities.

It really is. Our oldest daughter and son in law lived in Layton for three years while stationed at Hill. The area is absolutely beautiful. From Moab, Park City, Snowbird, Salt Lake City and Antelope Island. There is always something to do outside and the state residents take advantage of it. Starting on Friday the interstate is full of people pulling campers and SXS. Plus the area is very conservative with the mormon population. The weather is nice as well. Hot summer temperatures with low humidity and lots snow to play with in the higher elevations if that’s your thing. Winters aren’t as brutal as the East Coast but still damn cold. Another advantage is it’s easy to fly in and out of with a connection in DFW to the South. And it’s a 4 hour drive to Yellowstone. Yes I could live there.
Salt Lake isn't that conservative. It's also less than 50% Mormon. It's a nicer, cleaner version of Birmingham with a nice airport and an incredible road system. My company has an office there and some of my largest customers are there. If it weren't for the business my wife owns, I'd push hard to move out there. Already found a bass club out there!

Some of you guys know one of the real reasons you wanna move is to escape multiculturalism and live around “white” snow. I just want to escape people, in general......of all races. Oh, and swampass....I want to escape swampass.

To me the western part of North Carolina up through the Blue Ridge has much nicer weather than we have here in Alabama. As close as North Georgia always seems like it is a little cooler weather to me. There are still hot days but I think there is more of a fall and spring feel as close as Franklin, NC. Beautiful part of the South and close enough you can still drive to the beach in a day. It has been highs in the 80's all summer up there lows are typically in the 60's. Highs in the 70's all of August in Cashiers.
Beautiful up there and better weather. Y'all need to check that out up there. I think that's what you are looking for.

Salt Lake city has the most polluted air I've ever seen.
The only time I've ever seen the air polluted out there was during the wildfires this summer.
