.I'm hoping they are ok...haven't heard from them in an hour and a half now.
Praying for your boy and his family bward
Same. The 2 people I was talking to down there are both out of contact, now, too. Both were through the worst of it, and both went quiet about the same time as your boy...probably a tower went offline.

Slight bit of good news for Dothan area in general is that the center looks to be hooking more NE than N at the moment.
WTVY just reported 70% without power in Dothan.

Most of Mexico Beach will be gone. The houses that were built after 2004 will still be there but damaged. Most everything that was built pre-2004 (new hurricane code) will be destroyed. The majority of the houses down there have been there for 30 plus years so I would expect most of it to just be completely gone. Storm surge will be the main culprit.
Fox just posted about 10 pictures from Parker and Calloway which is roughly a couple miles north of Tyndall. Roof and tree damage mostly. Nothing wiped flat in any these pictures like I expected to see. Matt, not sure where you saw gusts to 180 at Tyndall. Highest I've seen officially reported on Bay County sheriff's update was a single gust to 134 at Tyndall. The did say pretty much all of Mexico Beach is currently under about 10 ft of water.
My crazy partner, who stayed at his Alys Beach house, west side of PCB, never lost power and was watching the storm on TV an hour ago when I talked to him.
The hurricane outperformed all expectations and Mexico beach is destroyed. I don’t know why folks want to downplay the storm just as much as I don’t understand folks that over hype it.

Just got a legit video from Mexico Beach with identifiable points. Mexico Beach as some of us know it, is gone. 10-12 ft of standing water in all developed areas on the main road. Video was taken off the balcony of that condo on the canal on the north side of road. Didn't see a ton of wind damage since condo where it was filmed from was fine on the third floor but looks like storm surge pretty much got it all. Just a huge pond of floating debris as far as you can see.

Yep and most of them are 100 miles away arm chair quarterbacking. We'll know tomorrow what the damage is.

Yeah, well, I always heard there were three kinds of suns in Kansas: sunshine, sunflowers, and sons-of-bitches.
Bob, If I've got my bearings right, that was taken just west of where the one I saw was taken. Looked pretty much the exact same though. Man I hope all those people got out of there and evacuated.
What a cluster! I just checked out my local power company West Florida Electric's Facebook page and had to chuckle. They say they are on backup power but lost Internet, phone and cellphone. They lost their outage management system because of no internet. How are you a public electric company without a backup internet and phone system or other redundancy to keep your outage management system up? That's poor planning to say the least. Some idiot is sitting in the graceville office with backup power and Air conditioning scratching his head trying to figure out who doesn't have power. They say they don't know who is out of power. People need to raise hell with the trustees of the coop about this. What's the point of backup power if you can't see where outages are. I was without power for 4-5 days after last year's hurricane but FPL knew I was out and had redundant reporting systems for people to report outages. WFEC needs to learn from FPL. Trustees need to get on the WFEC's case about preparedness. You can't fix stupid.
The footage ive seen of mexico beach looks pretty bad. I expect in the morning the footage we will get will be even worse. Its hard to drive the news van in when the road is 6ft under water. Panama city beach was in the good side of the storm. Ive got a friend with a house obout 2 blocks off laguna beach. He said he didnt have any damage. I think TWC did a poor job of covering this storm. Alot of their footage during the storm was from behind a highrise condo. Im betting when the footage of the hardest hit areas start pouring in in the morning, there will be no doubt how powerful this storm was.

Meh, haven’t you heard? If it isn’t leveled, with nothing left but dirt, it couldn’t have been a CAT 4. Just a stiff summer breeze.
