Tarter sauce??? That's trash can filler. Cocktail sauce is the proper condiment for fish and seafood. Truth!!! Made with fresh horseradish strong enough that it clears your sinuses.

I love good trartar, not sweet. With dill pickles and fine cut onions. One very popular cafe here SOUTHSIDE makes all their own condiments. Their tartar is wonderful. I always loved Tiger too, wish I could eat it. I hate horseradish, so no to cocktail sauce. Pretty much agree.

Louisiana hot sauce mixed with mustard is an incredibly good as a fried fish dip.

"Seafood cocktails originated in the 19th century in the United States, usually made with oyster or shrimp, and seafood with spiced, cold sauces were a well-established part of the 20th century culinary repertoire. While cocktail sauce is most associated with the prawn cocktail, it can be served with any shellfish."
Notice that says Shellfish...
"In Australia, it is often provided in fish and chip shops."
Must have a bunch of Aussies on here.

Tartar sauce is for fish and cocktail is for shell fish. BUT I do like shrimp in tartar sauce. Chopped dill pickles, mayo, chili powder, lemon juice, dab of ranch and dab of hot sauce.
Everything woke turns to shit

Tartar and cocktail sauce only used when seafood sucks.
And if it tastes that bad, I'll just take a bottle of hot sauce or a slice of lemon.

On fish I use lemon juice or hot sauce. Hush puppies I like with a good homemade tarter sauce Shellfish same as fish except shrimp a good extra spicy homemade cocktail sauce. Steak salt and pepper.
