I was raised in SW Alabama and NW Florida. We caught so many fish my father put an old-fashioned wood cook-stove in the back yard for frying fish. My mother always made tartar sauce with dill pickles and onions, but I knew folks that made it using sweet pickles. Which do you prefer? (feel free to add any advice on flu shots or places to eat in Orange Beach )
I’m not a tarter sauce either but my favorite lunch spot makes homemade tarter sauce and I always have fish so I don’t look stupid eating tarter sauce by itself.

I don't like pickles in tarter sauce. I use mayo ,horseradish, onion powder , doll weed and lemon. I can't stand store bought cocktail or tarter sauce.
Ain't never seen someone put cocktail sauce on a piece of fish in my life that was sober. Cocktail sauce is for shellfish. Tarter is for fish sammiches. Been around a couple hundred years. Made with pickles. If it don't have pickles it ain't tarter.

Something is wrong with y'all. Who don't like a fish sammich slathered with tarter?.... well, maybe most people don't... but that's not the point.

I love good trartar, not sweet. With dill pickles and fine cut onions. One very popular cafe here SOUTHSIDE makes all their own condiments. Their tartar is wonderful. I always loved Tiger too, wish I could eat it. I hate horseradish, so no to cocktail sauce.

I don't do mayo either. Nastiest stuff on planet Earth. I dont like steak marinades, I will put A1 on a steak.
