I’ve never fished Neely but it’s been on my radar. What would a Neely newbie tie on and where should he go just to maybe catch a few spots? Launch in Gadsden and fish around town?

Guys who won ours ran pretty much to Weiss dam, fished a swim jig in the grass all day. Didn't realize there was much grass up that way. I know there's some in those creeks right above the steam plant.

I’ve never fished Neely but it’s been on my radar. What would a Neely newbie tie on and where should he go just to maybe catch a few spots? Launch in Gadsden and fish around town? Go to the lower end (like was said, I'd put in at the dam in Ohatchee, it's free). I don't enjoy fishing the upper end around Gadsden. I like Shoal, Beaver, and sometimes Canoe creeks. Or just holler at me and we'll go, it's only about 25 minutes from my house.

I have a place on Palmetto (Permiter) creek and prefer the lower end. FIsh a shaky head or swim bait anywhere you can find grass or backs of creeks. This cool snap should get the shad pushing back up in the creeks now too. My son and I have slaughtered them on chrome rattle traps just throwing out in the middle of the creeks when that happens. Now that I have a stocked lake in my back yard, I have gotten lazy and don't hit NH as much.
