Definitely a classic thread. I've wondered if ol agustus ever followed this thread early on while the case was still active.
You can guarantee he did, it's why he was so eager to post about it immediately after it was over with in all the now deleted posts.
But dayum you would think that the way everybody was pointing out all of the holes in the case he would've thought "maybe this is all screwed up".
Easier to just quietly go away than admit you screwed up. Plus at some point he realized there were probably some kind of judicial canons about commenting on a case that is likely to be appealed, not to mention the potential civil liability his buddy could face.
He had nothing to gain from posting. The reality is the law/precedent SUCKED. He had to follow precedent. His mistake was saying something like 'I'm convinced one of them shot out of the window' when that wasn't really necessary under the then-current precedent. It just invited distrust and discourse and made him seem kinda small.
Thank heavens the AL Supreme Court fixed that crappy Rogers case and made it no longer the law of the land.
