What makes it better than H&H? More deer less people.

Well we are headed home. The guys with me are home sick. If it was up to me I would stay till the rut was over. I will be back and next time it will be Nov. 11th-18th. I feel like that is the main rutting time. We only got a few days of it, but it was fun. None of us tagged a buck, but we learned the roads and scouted a good bit. So next time I will be prepared and have a head start. The deer population is very high and you can see browse lines everywhere. The acorns didn’t make, however I found two big red oaks that did make while looking for the buck I shot and it looked like a pig pen under them with very few acorns left to get. The deer was not putting down scrapes like they should and I have seen that before in Bankhead when there is very low food source. We seen zero planted green-fields even on private land. The deer eat fescue in pastures, honeysuckles and corn on private land. There is very few crop fields. Wayne Forest looks to be 95% Hardwoods. I never saw any planted pines. The deer will be in bad shape come end of February. The deer move like normal every morning and every afternoon. We even seen big bucks eating out of feeders in broad daylight on private land. How they grow big racks in that area is a mystery to me. From the deer I seen and the mounts and the deer in the slaughterhouse, the bucks are no bigger than the ones in Bankhead, but it’s a hell of a lot more of them in Ohio. Cell service has got to be the worse in the country. I would say only about 10% has internet. Most of the population is an older generation. The only people left in the area with money is the ones with old money. The younger generation has left Lawrence County Ohio. I will try to answer questions to the best of my ability with my opinion. My opinion is just that “My Opinion”. I have no degrees in wildlife and everything I have learned over the years has been passed on to me or I have come up with my own opinion.

Loved the thread. I think you gotta go with some guys more hardcore like you are.
What other states have you tried? I know you've been to KY.

Use the club money to travel to public areas and do what you want. I think it's a better deal than the average lease.

I have only hunted out of state one time before and that was Kentucky. I’m 42 and not getting any younger and plan to do this every year. My wife informed me if I ever leave the house for 10 days again I will come home to an empty house. So next year I’m going to shoot for 9 days and press my luck. Well that's nice

BE careful Joey! Hope y'all make it in safe we may pass y'all on our way to South Dakota to do our 10day adventure/ hunt. We're trying to beat the storm to St.Louis. I could hijack the thread now to update everyone but cell service won't be an option in 90% of where we will be. I will try to start one in the other forum. If we find service
Its not the will to win but the will to prepare to win!
