I would suggest you carry a couple of 44 magnums and a backup on your ankle with all of the big bad bears in your area. You can never be too careful.

You might be on to something! All this time I have been walking around checking cameras with no gun at all and sometimes just a machete! What was I thinking risking my life like that with those bad ole bears all around me lol

Apparently, they are expanding their range. I've got one on one of my stands in an area that has historically never had bears. I have had one other time where one frequented one of my stands on another tract of land 20 miles away. It got hit by a car. This is in coastal SC. Unfortunately, I can't legally kill one in this game zone. I like seeing them. Ain't nothing but a big coon.

I'm sure if I hunted in an area with bears instead of hogs, I'd still carry it. Although, I might opt for a 10mm Glock instead of a .44mag, but to each his own.

Naw I'd take 44 revolver over 10ml much less glock grin

As long as it's not a 1911......it'd be bad enough to get mauled, but imagine the bear laughing at you after your gun jammed after the 1st shot, and then mauling you...

welll it's like this . i aint scared of $hit but if i'm in the woods i'm armed . if you don't think being armed would help , you aint reading enough attack story's .

most of this story's i have read a fire arm would have saved a life . if a guy can kill a grizzly with a buck knife and live to tell about it don't try and tell me a firearm would be usless to carry .

Feral dogs concern me more than a bear.

I’ve spent a lot of time in bear country. Black, brown and grizzly and they have never concerned me. Granted I was always armed and prepared but I never was concerned.
