I went hunting this morning in Ragland on the farm .

At 645 am I noticed a yearling was out feeding and watched it for about 20 minutes by itself then it wandered off .

I started thinking that I probably wouldn't see anything else
then the floodgates opened up around 745am when 8 does and a yearling shot out of the hardwoods into the pasture .

I got one on my first shot around 160 yards right in front of the shoulder , dropped on spot neck broke. She was 111 lbs and just been bred, about 2 years old

Then I saw another standing back about 170 tards through some sweet gome trees . I fired a shot and it never moved,
must have hit a limb , then I racked another in the chamber and fired it entered the shoulder and left a massive hole about 7" diameter out the other shoulder , deer #2 down on spot , She was 118 lbs and not bred yet

Browning A-BOLT 30-6
Federal Vital Shock Nosler Ballistic Tips 165 grain
Zeiss Conquest 3 x 12 x 56 - 30 mm

Gonna wait till Wednesday and hit it again after this rain moves through

How do you know if a doe has been bred or not.

If you're gonna be stupid you better be tough.

Was she smoking a cigarette?

Take your kids hunting instead of hunting your kids.

I'd rather be LOST in the woods than FOUND in the city.

Drive a hybrid, I need your gas.

Your mind is your primary weapon. Never let it get rusty.

Why shoot does that late in the season unless you are starving to death? You are just messing up your chance to kill a good buck.

I wanna know how the crap you know if a doe is early bred or not?

Does Tinks make an EPT?

First off about being bred ..
When I took them to the processer in Ragland he said one of them had just been bred and the other hadn't . I trust his word , he has seen many more deer than I have

Second about shooting does
Last year I only saw one deer and it was a 8 pt on Jan 30 ,2011 and I dropped him on the spot
This year I seen the 8 does and a yearling and I was gonna harvest them .

Last years buck didn't go over well with the wifey . Had to much of a rut taste, so I wanted to get some does.

I am hunting on a private 80 acre farm with 2700 acres of hunting club surrounding me and they have only killed 3 deer this season
