I don’t have a problem with not saying it in general but I wasn’t raised saying it. Honestly I only know it because of seminary..

I wouldn't brag about being Methodist. How many Communists have they helped? https://aim.org/publications/aim_report/1983/02b.html Safer opened his program with the observation that Americans give more to their churches than to any other charity. He then showed film clips of Fidel Castro and a military parade in Moscow, and he asked, "But what if some of that money is doing this man's work? Or these people's?" He proceeded to make a strong case that church donations being given to mainline churches that belong to the National Council of Churches are to some extent being used to finance Marxist propaganda and to assist armed Marxist guerrillas. He showed that this was being done through the National Council of Churches, the World Council of Churches, and in some cases by the leadership of large denominations. The United Methodist Church and the United Presbyterian Church were specifically mentioned. Safer and critics of the NCC that he interviewed acknowledged that the amount of money that is used for funding leftist causes and propaganda represents only a very small portion of the budgets of the NCC and its member churches. Bishop James Armstrong, the president of the NCC, was shown complaining that outsiders were placing too much emphasis on the political activities of the churches and not enough on their religious and humanitarian activities. Safer's reply was that the religious activities were assumed to be a proper role for the churches, but many of those who were putting up the money did not agree with the political goals of the NCC and WCC.

There are several different versions of the Apostle's Creed. This is the Methodist's version:
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
I believe that no matter what Trump did or didn't do at that funeral, that the press would have made a big deal about it. They all hate him and are looking for anything to use against him. No matter how perceived it may be. He is an easy man to dislike and has very few redeeming qualities. So that behavior is expected, especially for folks who already don't agree with his policies.
The only reason I voted for him and continue to support him is because of his conservative policies and he keeps appointing young conservative Supreme Court Justices. I have never thought the guy to be some bastion of the Christian faith, nor have I ever seen him as a particularly good man. In the short term he is helping the conservative cause, but in the long term I fear he is hurting it. Our conservative cause needs eloquent, compassionate leaders who are true believers in the Christian faith so that we can bring more young, intelligent and dynamic people into the fold. Without that freedom will be overtaken by Socialism and all will be lost.

Never heard of it. Why does the Methodist version reference the Catholic Church? I believe catholic in the early times (1st and 2nd centuries) simply referred to the Christian Church, as there hadn't yet been denominations formed yet. Catholic means universal, so its just referring to the all encompassing church.

^^^ Exactly, catholic means universal or general, not the Catholic denomination. This. Small c. It means the Christian Church, not the capital C Catholic Church. We say it in the Episcopal church.
