My Grandfather was a Baptist preacher, never heard of it. But I'd bet for sure your grandfather did know it because besides the Bible, it is probably the most well known writing summary of the faith. I believe Baptists are more in line with the Confessions, such as the New Hampshire confession. True. The Roman Creed and Apostles Creed or other early church creeds as historical texts are typically the base for most catechisms and confessions of faith...which are basically longer expositions with deeper details of the theology expressed in the basic creeds. Just my opinion.

Exactly!
But Matthew 7:21-23 speaks with the Lord's authority and His word is the bottom line.
Sow righteousness for yourselves and reap faithful love; break up your unplowed ground. It is time to seek the Lord until He comes and sends righteousness on you like the rain. - Hosea 10:12

But Matthew 7:21-23 speaks with the Lord's authority and His word is the bottom line. Truth. Top line, middle line, bottom line...all lines.

He didn’t say it because I’m pretty sure he didn’t know what it was or that he’s supposed to say it
