Make sure they go to the bathroom before you get in the shooting house, etc. Expect “daddy, I need to poop” with about 30 minutes of shooting light left. Been there done that lol. My 8 year old is well versed in woods pooping 😂😂

The craziest stories come from taking kids hunting. Taking kids hunting tend to teach you that most of the stuff you do (scent, sound, movement) don't matter as much. Though they seem to always matter when its you hunting a target buck.
Try not to over correct him but teach. If he's being loud make it funny in way you teach him to quiet down.

Alright so I’ve got my 6 year old step son hunting with me this weekend. I’ve got snacks packed, a 22lr so he can”finish off” the deer after it’s shot, and a giant gator aid bottle. Need any tips or tricks you got on keeping them interested? In addition to some candy bars and drinks, I would let mine bring a book or some pad and crayons and let him draw while in stand. When it was "magic time" usually around 4 or 415, everything went down and he "helped" me looked for deer. Dr. B

Well got an update. Big nanny came through about 7:10 so he didn’t have time to get bored on the morning hunt. knocked it down with my 270 knockdown rifle that doesn’t kill deer, only knocks them off there feet and he proceeded with the kill shot from a safe distance with his 22 killer rifle. Took him back to camp around eight so he could show off his deer and get his pictures. Had a great lunch walking around and answering questions. Went back for a(boring, this is fun, I’m hot, I’m cold, where are the deer, is that a deer, why aren’t the deer coming, do deer even live here, I think I saw a deer, I wanna go back to camp, can we sleep here?, I’m hungry, no not that, I’m full, it’s cold again) nice evening hunt but didn’t see anything. He had a blast and think he’s hooked.

I've carried all three of my girls since they were very young, maybe 3-4 years old. Started carrying my grandson Dylan while he was still in diapers. Pop up blinds were made for kids, add food and warmth and yer good to go.
My youngest daughter used to stick her whole upper body out the window and yell "theres a deer" when she first started going with me. She also used to put her hand on my rifle when I shot so she could claim any deer killed, used to start fights with the older girls about it too, about who killed the deer. Dylan would "help" drag deer out. You wouldn't think that 40 pounds ADDED to the dragging weight would be too much but it is!!! Dylan was the best at a very young age about being quiet and still. I made him a harness and we would hunt out of ladder stands when he was 2 years old. He loved seeing deer walk under the stand. I killed a big buck with my recurve once out of a ladder when he was 2, he was very proud of HIS deer. Momma and my wife weren't as happy about him climbing up in trees....LOL
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....
