Yeah, the reg definitely says motor off, and not moving. There’s gotta be some jack legg out there with a 5.7 vortec, and a steel brush guard doing 50 down a dirt road just hoping for a deer to jump out in the road. But that’s probably legal. Well, technically, I believe any public road without a POSTED speed limit is something like 30 or 35mph, by default......so BOOM...Illegal. Damn outlaws.

Not all beat to hell I had a monster 9 step out in front of me on the Alberta rd a few years ago, and I had to come to a complete stop and honk the horn to get the SOB to move. He's lucky I wasnt in my jeep Cherokee, and secondly had i known he was going to be shot 2 days later by a jackazz New York city pay hunter, I would've smacked his azz in the wife's car

1. there is no law/reg that prohibits drinking while hunting. A case could be made for reckless endangerment IF you are drunk and doing something reckless with a firearm. 2. there is no law prohibiting having a fully loaded long gun in/on any vehicle.( Bham PD does not know this and may arrest you for "having a gun".....) other than Bham you can lay a fully loaded rifle on the dash and drive thru Montgomery legally. You can drive all over yer land with it there. You can drive around the club likewise. GW tells you it is illegal TELL HIM TO SHOW YOU THE LAW/REG. It doesn't exist. 3. It is illegal to hunt with the aid of a motor vehicle. It used to be enforced all around, no sitting on/in while hunting. That changed around 1985-1990, allowing you to park on the gas line, engine running while hunting. (kind of like the "salt is legal" enforcement. If you are driving around a big pasture looking for deer, stopping and glassing, sticking gun out the window to look, you could be arrested for hunting from a motor vehicle. Shooting from a public road from the vehicle could get you a public road ticket, motor vehicle ticket, permit ticket (if on someone else land with no permission). Number 3 is not correct - as long as the vehicle's motor is shut off you can hunt from it. Per Alabama regulation 220-2-.02 - Persons may hunt from a floating craft or motor vehicle once the motor is shut off and all forward motion has ceased. It is not legal to hunt from a vehicle on a public road. as per that reg it is still illegal to hunt by aid of motor vehicle, like I stated above. Late 80's enforcement changed to allow sitting in a stationary vehicle and later reg wording was changed to reflect that enforcement. Now enforcement allows sitting in vehicle with motor running as I remember from before I retired. May be different now. Current regs, this year, state the vehicle must have the motor shut off and all forward motion ceased. Does not say anything about rearward movement. Guess you can turn off motor and be okay coasting downhill in reverse.

Can use your motor vehicle as your hunting stand, it can't be moving. Greene county officers are veterans, OPs buddies are confused about what his buddy got a warning for , be my guess. Dont know that,

I don’t even think they are confused. I would say it just makes them feel better about the ticket and Warning to just flat out lie about the circumstances. See if all the time!

Danny would you be taking up for Tillman if he was the officer in question? I heard he may be on the job again, I hope that's a rumor...

I'm just going to leave this right here. I can tell y'all that in my 18yrs as a LEO, other than speeding tickets, I have never givin a warning or a ticket to a person that actually did what the were cited for.

But, he made a lot of cases that were legit and he took the brunt of the Political Machine for them due to who they were written to. And, knowing first hand of some of the Political Promises made to ‘get him gome’.......his problem was not as much his GW skills as his ‘filter’ on what to use them on.

Yeah he pulled some BS, like hunting over corn/feeders on the wrong property line (actually over it) lol, but yeah he was dedicated, he would walk a mile to bust someone else for hunting over corn.

He got me! And, he could not believe it when I said,”No, we do not need to go look at the trough under the tree by the plot. I filled it up yesterday.” He said that 99% of people always SWORE they did not know anything about the corn they were hunting over. LOL Been about 15 years ago and we both still chuckle about it when we run into each other.

You must've misunderstood what I typed, cause he didn't mind hunting over corn/feeders and hunting over property line, but enjoyed catching others doing the same thing.
