My family of 5 is in need of an SUV, and man I hate vehicle shopping and going to and dealing with car stealerships! That being said, I need some recommendations on what make and model to buy. These are the ones I sorta have in mind.
1. Toyota (Four Runner , or maybe Sequoia or Highlander) because of Toyota quality and longevity
2. Chevy Tahoe (I hear if you like changing sensors, this is for you)
3. Jeep Grand Cherokee (maybe)

Ford is pretty much out (according to my wife, although I wouldn’t mind looking at an Expedition)

I’d like to buy one slightly used, but buying a new one isn’t out of the question.
For quality and comfort and value, what are your suggestions? And where should I start looking? Thanks, Robinhedd

Man that's a tough one, I like the Four runner, but they're just too damn expensive new imo. What about an explorer (similar in size to four runner) nevermind seen your wife doesn't want a ford.

Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

Just bought a used 2012 Expedition with less than 60k miles and it has everything including the kitchen sink. Very comfortable vehicle. The last 2 vehicles we had were Suburbans. You might want to get the wife in one and drive it.

#2 and #3 would be way behind #1 in my choices. Reliability, room and car-like ride are unbeatable in the Highlander.

Not mentioned is the Honda Pilot.
I wouldn't even consider the Jeep.

With 5 of y'all a 4Runner and even a Tahoe will leave you no cargo room for trips,a Tahoe has no storage in the back with the 3rd row seats up,we have 3 kids so we bought a Suburban a few years back and my wife loves it,says of all the vehicles she's had it's her favorite,it's a 2016 with 62k miles and we've had zero issues out of it since we bought new,we've had a 4Runner too but with 3 kids you're gonna be cramped

Mazda CX-9. Drive all the others and then drive the Mazda and you will be a believer.

We have a CX-5 and love it.

The 4 runner isn’t going to work for a family of 5. The highlander is a great mom vehicle, but 5 people are not going to have room for anything but them and the person in the 3rd row seat isn’t going to be comfortable when they hit about age 8. The sequoia is the way to go with that many people if you go Toyota.

The Tahoe/Yukon doesn’t have any room behind the 3rd row seat. I mean none. My wife has drive one or the other for 15 years. She loves it, but if you use the 3rd row, you have to use a roof carrier or a hitch basket for luggage. I would look at Suburban/Yukon XL is I had 3 kids.

Don’t buy a Jeep Grand Cherokee. We had one, it was the worst vehicle I have ever owned. Piece of shucks. Plus it isn’t big enough for that many people.

Remember, those kids are going to get a lot bigger before she gets rid of it.

Expedition or Sequoia. I know she said no Ford, but she needs to consider it.

One tidbit of info missing is how old are these kids currently? That could sway a decision depending on age and how long you keep vehicles.

Doekiller hit my sentiments on the head. My wife has a tahoe and she loves it but my two oldest drive so its usually 4 of us at the most on any given trip.

Had an 05 yukon xl when kids were all riders and wish i still had it because it was such a good vehicle.

Have had 2 GC's in past and loved the vehicles but had electrical issues with both - one's horn would just start blowing for no reason going down the road and the other had issues with the windows just rolling themselves down at random times - techs could never fix either problem.

That sort of FCA/Chrysler BS would drive me absolutely CRAZY.
Garbage brand. I see people that buy Mopar(aside from Cummins and the no longer made Viper) as content with enabling mediocrity.

The 4runner would definitely be too small for a family of 5. Like others have mentioned, look at the Suburban or the Sequoia. Have you looked at the Nissan Armada? It's pretty roomy.

Did you used to live in the Ozarks. I was stationed at Ft Leonard wood for 2 years. Wife and I have 19, 16, and now 6 yo. Drink bottled water and get the whole direct tv package I guess!

Anyway, we have a ‘17 Suburban. Nice ride, but beginning to see problems. If you get new, I suggest getting the max warranty. Seems like most anything new is generally cheaply made.

Heck no, knew exactly what I was doing. If you know anybody having trouble with conception or fertility issues, tell them to PM me please. I reckon I can just shake it at’ um! 😐

I’d go sequoia or suburban, with preference towards the latter. You aren’t going to regret the extra room.
