My grandfather was Japanese. He wasn't a blood relative, it was my grandmother's second marriage, she was a widow, and married him in the 1930s. He was a widower with four kids. One of them served in the U.S. Army during WWII, but that didn't keep the FBI from stationing two guys in front of my grandparents house to "watch him" during the war. My grandmother was a true character (she was a white woman in the Deep South who married an Asian after all!!) and she would take iced tea out to their car in the summer, hand it to them, and say "Seen any Japs around here??"

LMAO!!!!

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

These days it seems like that was a cruel and unnecessary way to treat Japanese Americans.
But I think, today, we actually should do the very same thing for ALL Muslims.

My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

Back when I was in the Marines we had this Japanese guy in our unit. Actually his dad was a Caucasian and his mother was Japanese. His Dad was a WWII vet and stationed in Japan after the war and met his mom.

Anyway he was a great guy. We had this 8mm camera and we would make these "war movies" when we were on bivouac. He played every Asian soldier in the movies we made. We would do stuff like capture him, stuff him in a 55 gallon drum and then roll the drum down a huge hill and then he would emerge from the drum all beat up and stagger around. (We didn't actually roll him down the hill just the drum, but it looked like we did through some creative editing.) All kinds of torture stuff. I remember he had this Rising Sun headband that he wore. That and his salad suit was the extent of his costume. We used to get together in the common area and screen the movies for the whole unit including the CO and the Gunny.

Those were fun times. I wish I could still get in contact with him and I wish I still had some of those movies.

Dang. Glad Thunder is still here. I was afraid y’all had skeered him off.
Don’t take any of us Yahoos too seriously. Everyone on this site is mostly full of it. You’re going to add some spice to the place.

Your post made me think of something. I have no idea how it could possibly be done, but it would be a fascinating research project to determine how many of the interred Americans of Japanese descent were actually spies, potential spies, or saboteurs. The purpose of this would be to see if in fact interment is a viable solution to the issue or if it is more of an injustice to American citizens. Many people that have little knowledge of WWII don't realize that while much of our military was fighting the Japanese in the Pacific, we had whole battalions or divisions, I'm not sure of the proper designation, of American soldiers of Japanese descent fighting for the USA in Italy.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Yes. I can assure you there were. My uncle that I refered to was with the 442nd in Italy. I had Japanese relatives, again, by marriage, who were locked up in camps. I'm sure there were all sorts of spies. It was a different time. We cannot look back and judge it from today. I don't think my grandfather was ever bitter about being watched. He had converted to Christianity before leaving Japan, and was fiercely patriotic about the U.S.A.

soalaturkeys, Iam glad that Asian Thunder had the courage to break the Aldeer barrier so that people like you are encouraged to come out and be proud of their heritige. I know to some this will feel like an Asian Invasion but I am happy that we can all coexist.

An estimated 33,000 Japanese Americans served in the military during and immediately after World War II, about 18,000 in the 442nd and 6,000 as part of the MIS. Approximately eight hundred Japanese Americans were killed in action during World War II.

Much decorated for their valor and often cited as being part of the most decorated unit in World War II for its size and length of service, Japanese Americans served in the U.S. armed forces in disproportionate numbers, despite having their loyalties questioned after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Though they mostly served in the segregated 442nd Regimental Combat Team and its predecessor, the 100th Infantry Battalion, others served as translators and interpreters in the Military Intelligence Service. Because of the unique role they played during and after the war, Japanese American war veterans continue to play an influential role in the community.

You can find a more complete history of Japanese Americans who served in both WWI and WWII here:

Asians as a whole are awesome. Hard working, polite, not criminals and not poor.
Of course, there are some that are the exact opposite of that but aren't.
