I had gastric sleeve surgery 4 weeks ago. And I am really wanting to go deer hunting. I was wondering how long I should wait before I go. My doctor still doesn't want me to do any strenuous activities right now. Thanks for any advice.

x2...sucks but the strenuous activity increases the stress on the sleeve which may cause it to rupture, slip off, or the sutures to rupture...Going on a deer hunt isn't worth ruining your body when you can wait and go later on when everything has healed up and all

I think the big risk for you would be rupturing the incision, no so much the stomach itself. if you are not carrying anything (would it be hunting if you are not carrying in a bunch of useless junk), you might could do it. add the rifle, bag, etc. and it will become an issue. also, if you happen to get one, how would you get it out?
If you have someone to go with you and carry everything and do everything necessary but shoot, you might could make it work if it was not a strenuous walk.
To clarify, I would not risk it.

Good luck! Around here the best part of season is Jan. 15 until the end. The rain every weekend has been killing me too.

If you do go hunting. Leave the donuts and sticky buns at home. Take an apple or all that weight will be back in 4 or 5 years. Seen it many times before
