^^^^THIS^^^ Training mask and weight vest. Start off with mask configured for 3000' and build up in altitude, 20lbs in the weight vest to start, Walk at least 2 miles 3-4 days a week up and down, not flat. Stairs, stadium steps, stairwells, etc. I filled my backpack with books and walked the stadium steps. If you are in N Alabama, find some mountain trails to climb. You also might want to get a presript for Diamox from your Doc since no matter how good of shape you are in, you can still get the altitude sickness and it is miserable. It will ruin your trip and can be prevented with the Diamox. The only negative to the Diamox is that it makes carbonated beverages taste like aluminum for some reason.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.
