If he’s 6 then he’s on the down swing.

Must be a club that goes by point restriction, rather than age.
If so, he messed up being a 7pt, if that is the club rule being 8pt or better.

I'd prefer age, but many people can't accurately judge by age.

I'd shoot him, but not if the club goes by 8pts.

God Bless,
David B.

Mature deer is a mature deer. If your happy with it that’s all that matters. My 2 cents

If it's a deer you want then shoot it. No one else's opinion should matter for any reason. I shoot for food mainly and yearling does and small bucks are my favorite to shoot.
P.S. That's a nice buck! I would shoot him any day.

Yes. I would shoot him. My reason would be because its a legal deer and I like meat. Hope this helps.

Yes, assuming he's legal where I'm hunting.

Yes. Without hesitation.

I'm finding out there is a huge difference between "mature" deer and "trophy" deer. Based on that picture and your comments, that is a mature deer and one I'd be proud to bring back to camp. Some folks wouldn't even flip the safety off on him but I'd drop him DRT. Congrats on a nice deer!

Agreed ain't no mature deer getting pass from me unless it's my last one from season and I got something better I'm hunting

Yep, mature buck over 4 yo , nice wide rack...nice buck. I think thats a good one to shoot. Dont want a bunch of sevens running around and if he was 6 years old hes wasnt going to get much better

If A deer looks like a fat 200 lb + hog with cowhorn spikes, I'll shoot him. That's an old deer. Fair game regardless of what is on his head.

I would drop him in with no hesitation. I can't see any logical reason why he shouldn't have shot him. Unless there was a BIG 10 point right behind him.
