COLUMBIA: Today we received a tip that the 2 Buck Deer Processing Plant on Hudson Road was closed. After some investigation we found that the plant was closed and the building had no power. The problem is the cooler was full of deer meat still hanging on the hooks. Several deer were located out back that had never been skinned. The smell was really bad and could be smelled out in the parking lot. It appeared that the owner had just left it and never returned. A pit was dug out back and appeared to have deer in it and was covered up. Deer carcasses could be seen in the mud behind the building. All the meat inside the building was rotten and had flies everywhere. We called the phone number on the sign out front but kept going straight to voice mail. We managed to obtain photos of the interior and they are bad. Anyone who has dropped off any deer for processing will not be able to get it. We also learned that there are no guidelines in place in Alabama to regulate deer processing. This bothers me that anyone can open a deer processing plant without being inspected or regulated. http://rickeystokesnews.com//article.php/2-buck-deer-processing-in-columbia-closed-161422
