It’s wrong on several levels, however, many of you on here should inquire as to how old your grandmother or great-grandmother was when she married. When Perch was in his prime folks would “jump over the broom” when young girls were 14! I have a friend who is 51, his mother was 14 when she married his dad.
As for the defendant who is the subject of this thread, if he HAD NOT been a school employee AND would have waited until her next Birthday, it would have been legal. Yep, she was LESS THAN A YEAR FROM BEING LEGAL. A 16 year old is only legal for someone 18 and under in Alabama. Wrong. 16 is legal for anyone from age 14 to age 100 to have sex with. 16 is the legal age of consent. Anyone other than a school employee can have sex with a 16 year old. If you are 16, you can have sex with a 14 year old legally, if you are 17, you can have sex with a 15 year old legally, once you reach 16, you are free game for anyone other than a school employee.
