Kyle, did you find that powder somewhere local or order it?

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Mike's in Hartselle is where I got the powder. Pretty sure I've seen it in Shooters Warehouse also.

Shot this load again today just to verify results. It's GTG in my 8.5". Time to load up all the brass I have.

Loaded up 100 380 acp's with some 90 gr. Speer Gold Dots. Seated them to .974 over 3.1 grains of BE. Pop'ed one in the mag and snapped the slide and chambered just fine. So I taper crimped them all and then decided I would load up the magazine and upon loading round #2 knew Houston had a problem. COAL was too long for the magazine. Didn't have a issue with one cause the nose isn't buried inside the mag housing, Ugly. So I ended up just having to nudge them down to a COAL of .965 and all is well. Let that be a lesson on auto loaders, make sure action will go to battery, but at the same time be sure the overall length will work inside the magazine. Sometimes it's easy to forget the simplest of things.

True, they are nice to have, but in this case they would not have made any difference I don't think. Speer's manual gave me a max oal of I think .984 and I had a minimum oal from Alliant of .970, which is where I seated them at initially to see if the slide would go to battery which it did. I really did not want to seat them much below the information provided by Alliant, and when I first found out that they were having a nose problem in the Browning model 10/71 I tried them in a Bersa 380 I have and no problem in that magazine at all. I guess the mag on the Browning is just a very tight fit.

Worked up some more 380 handloads. Got the new .354 sizer die for the lubersizer and resized the .356 cast round nose down to .354 and they chambered up perfectly. I then loaded up some of the new Inceptor 56 grain components that will move out at over 1200 fps just unheard of in a 380.

Couldn’t sleep last night so I went to the bench prepped cases and loaded up some different charges and lengths to play with in the 6.5. Hoping I can go test them out this weekend

Worked on some 223 and 243 ammo this weekend. End results are some tested eyeball busters from my varmint guns. The 223 are 53 gr Vmax with H322 going 3350 and the 6mms are my long range rounds, 107 gr SMKs with IMR7828 going 3000. Can't wait to get back to the range to try to improve my best group at 1250 with these babys!

The 53's are seated in Lapua brass

The 107's are seated in Peterson SRP brass

treemydog,
Those are very nice looking 243 rounds. What are you shooting them out of? And what are you using for optics?

Just got in a nice older Belgium double and I needed to go over it with a little solvent and then oil and grease it up so it's ready for the field. And a NEF handy rifle that I'm going to put a new barrel on and have it chambered for a 40-70 Sharps Straight, needed cleaning before sending the action off to the gunsmith, that puppy will not be back til Christmas most likely, but it will have a very different look when it comes back.

I running them through a factory rem 700, varmint sps, 26" bull barrel, with an upgraded stock. I have a vortex 4x16x44 hs on it. That recipe will cloverleaf at 100 yds, if I hold her steady, and is fairly accurate at 1000 and 1250. Those sizzling 107s make my 308 trajectory look like a mortar round at longer range. People scoff at a 243, but it's a heck of a long range round and I've stumbled onto a great combo with this particular rifle.

Sounds like a sweet setup that is working well for you. I have a 243 I picked up many years ago from a shop I was working at when I first started getting into the sporting goods industry. It is a good shooter and I've never had any issues with it, but I have not spent a lot of time working on loads other than to have two accurate loads for it, one for 85 grain, and another for 105. I just might have to find the time to spend more time seeing just what this little 6mm is capable of doing.
