Well....I had a first for me this morning. Had a bird start gobbling his head off while it was still pitch black. I got all the way to the corner of the property and figured the bird had to be just over the line or maybe just across the county road. I fooled with this damn thing until 830, him sounding off at every noise in the woods. I bet he gobbled close to 150 times. I finally made up my mind that he wasn’t going to cross the road. I got back to my truck and decided I would ride around to the far side and see if I could find where he was. Maybe talk to the neighboring landowner for permission to hunt him. As I passed by their house, I noticed a that they had apparently taken up a pet turkey in a damn 10x10 pen in their goat pasture. I couldn’t do anything but laugh.
Yeah, well, I always heard there were three kinds of suns in Kansas: sunshine, sunflowers, and sons-of-bitches.

Brought back a good laugh and memory! Congrats on all the kills today! God Bless, David B.

I few years ago stopped by the cemetery to pay my respects, and after about 5 minutes i hear a gobbler bust loose, and I'm like wth lol, this was like 2 days after Turkey season, and the joker gobbles another 4 or 5 times, and I'm trying to remember if i still had a shotgun in the truck 😁 so i decided to ease over to the wood line, and there he was, standing in a big ole pen in someone's backyard
Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

Awesome thread, guys! Hopper, tickled that worked out for you. Gobblinfever, that is the photo of a tired pup. And guess what, guys? Once upon a time, I walked off from a gate with a turkey that gobbled 100 times at least. There was a house across the road. I thought it was a turkey in a pen. I came back out. There was no turkey in a pen. Always look if you don’t know for sure. Y’all try to stay on me about going hunting this year. I’m a threat to say to hell with it and go fishing. I did go yesterday though. Threads like this make me want to keep going.
