Fad hunters won't stick with it more than 1 or 2 hunts when they figure out how much work is involved in killing a turkey And yup, the 'fad hunters' won't stick with it. And the turkey killers are going to kill regardless of the pressure.
I thought the same thing about some of these duck hunters but damn if they aren’t unwavering.

I thought the same thing about some of these duck hunters but damn if they aren’t unwavering. I don't know of many duck hunters that walk 2 or 3 miles into their spots. Maybe a few do, but not many. Also, it seems duck hunting is about time spent cutting up with your buddies as much (more?) as it is about actually hunting. Turkey hunting doesn't lend itself to the social aspect nearly as well as duck hunting. So, not only are you busting your ass hiking in to your spot, you're doing it alone. I'm not too worried yet.

Good point and I guess most folks have this mindset, but I’m more worried about killing birds than I am shooting the bull with my buddies. If that’s all it was about for us we’d just do that over a nice breakfast at the diner. I’ve had plenty of trips in to holes to find and kill ducks that were just as bad or worse.

they seem to be having trouble but it looks like most everything has standing water which isnt ever a good thing. think they've only seen 3 die since including youth season if I'm not mistaken

I would've loved to have been down there this week but it sure seems like the water has made things even tougher than normal.

Dave had a full week to scout between the youth hunt and regular opener on land he already knows so that tells you just how hard it is down there this year.

I don't think it was them but I saw a vid on facebook where some guys walked up on a big @$$ python while turkey hunting down there. Wonder how tss #9s would do on a 15ft snake? I don’t know, but I would’ve found out. I don’t normally shoot a snake if I decide to kill him. I’ll normally hit him with a stick, but not a 15 footer.
This is Aldeer! The place people come to vent their frustrations and completely change their stance a few minutes later...

To paraphrase Ron White....I don't know how many turkey shells it would'a took to kill him, but I know many I'm gonna use!" #allof'em

I know Chubs was running a Dixon some last year, because Dave joked about Chubs swapping to the old Dixon for good luck or something....he may have snagged one himself.

It’s not a Dixon, but I’d like to know. I Wonder if it’s a prototype he is testing.
