Looked at one of these at a local gun store and liked it. Do any of y’all use one if so what the pros and cons? It looks a nice gun and would be an upgrade from my Auto-5 for my go to turkey gun.

You're a big boy, but I don't want you to come cryin when it kicks your butt with 3.5's! Cause it will. I have a slug barrel for mine and I've also used it to kill a bunch of squirrels.

Mine patterns very well for an ‘out of the box factory choke’ setup. I added a rail and small vortex red dot to aid with aiming. Overall, it’s hard to beat the price for that kind of performance. And yes, it will knock you back if you aren’t ready. You may have to zoom in....

I have one, heavy shot choke tube, it’s ported along with the barrel being ported, so the recoil isn’t bad at all with 3.5 shells. I also put on a magnum recoil pad which could help minimize the recoil. I don’t have any recent pics of group but have killed birds at 50 yards

I’m not worried about the kick I’d just like a new turkey gun. My Auto-5 is old only shoots 2 3/4, it’s a great gun I’m just wanting a new one😊. I’ve shot the versa max and liked it but damn $$$$

My 3" Benelli will pattern better than that with half the kick Is it an autoloader (inertia gun) cause my SBE2 kicks harder than my 835. I shoot 3.5s out of my 835 and i cuss a little, but the last time i shot 3.5s out of my benelli. I cussed, and throwed that SOB on the ground 😁

I have an 835, with a StarDot choke, that I’m thinking of parting with. The StarDot’s are to find but very sought after for the 835’s. It’s a stone cold killer with #6’s.

Best patterning turkey gun I've ever seen and I've had several, including the SBE, 870 , Stoeger, and Beretta. The thing I loved about it was it would pattern nearly any choke/shell combo really well. It was unreal with an Indian Creek and Federal HW 7s in the two I owned. The recoil isn't as bad as the 870 I had but it became much easier to shoot with a Sims recoil pad on it. I didn't mind shooting it at all after I put the pad on. I've went the 20 gauge route and don't need a 12 gauge turkey gun anymore but if I did I'd go right back to the 835.

Not to mention the SBE wouldn't shoot to point off aim. Even the Stoeger (inertia operated) kicked as bad as the 835 anddddd it only shot 3" shells. I did prefer the older 835 with the heavier stock. It didn't rattle or kick as bad as the new ones.

Buy it. I researched some shotguns in that price range and chose the 835 and am very happy with the purchase.
Pros: made in the USA, tried and true, heavy barrel and overbored=less recoil (3" shells are not a problem to shoot- i shot 15 turkey loads back to back with no shoulder pain-never tried 3 1/2" shells however), good camo, patterns great with longbeard xr (i can only imagine what the pattern would be with TSS-someone post a picture please), lot of choke options (however the stock choke is what i use- i am confident at 50yrs with #5 shot and would probably shoot further) :)can't wait to try TSS...
Cons: stock sights are embarrassingly worthless (plan to purchase a red dot or adjustable fiber optic iron sights), the pump action is long (if you have a long reach you should not have a problem), during pump back you have to go allll the way back so the next shell pops up (not like your old 870 in the closet), less ammo diversity (you can not shoot slugs out of the overbored barrel - if that even matters to you).
I looked at the 535 (not overbored, short barrel and lighter-probably kicks harder, always find these for resale so that means somebody doesnt like it), winchester sxp (sweet but unsure of the quality, some customer issues during research, not USA made i think), new 870's (not like the old ones, quality issue?, not USA made i think), mossberg 935 (i prefer pump-less chance of ejection failure, i don't trust today's quality to eject shells like my model 1100).

My Benelli is a M1Super 90
First time I went to Texas I thought I might need a little longer range gun so I patterned my *#%835 with 3.5' shells. First shot was with a Federal shell..it kicked three teeth loose. WTF? Second shell was a black Winchester and it curb stomped my face. Sold the kicking sob on the way home. And neither pattern was better than my 870 would do with 3" shells.

My Turkey gun is an 835 and it is a beast. It is a turkey killing machine, I have never had any problems with the kick unless I am not paying attention and lay my cheek on the stock, while aiming down sights, it will make you feel like you got punched in the jaw by a fully grown man. I have dropped it, it has fell off the hood of the Jeep , it had been used as a climbing stick and a walking stick, it has been completely submerged in the creek when I slipped and busted my arse trying to cross a moss covered log......and seems no matter what it goes through it keeps on working flawlessly.
Let them walk ...and grow them big

I shoot a 935. And with choke and longbeards xr. It patterns great to 50. Kicks hard. But never noticed it while hunting and I don't shoot just for fun much.
