So far this has been really easy. I've read that people experience headaches and no energy until ketosis kicks in. I have no experienced that. I had been eating very "healthy" for 2-3 weeks, maybe a month prior to starting this, with no starchy carbs, so I'm wondering if I've not already gone into ketosis? I'm going to get some strips today. The only down side I've experienced is having to hit the head soon after eating. I had my gallbladder removed several years ago and have never had any digestive issues so this is new to me.
It's pretty easy for me to follow a diet that allows me to eat like I'm eating..
Breakfast this morning was 3 tablespoons of natural peanut butter. Lunch was a big ol ribeye, fat and all and a green salad with buttermilk ranch, topped with blue cheese and a good dose of olive oil. I won't eat again until tomorrow morning. This will be my first "intermittent" fast. That's supposed to help too.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

I can just tell when I need to stop eating and digest some food. I'm about like you with my gallbladder out too. I feel my best on a fast day after I've got cleaned out. my stools are very quick and clean now,but I might have to go 6 times on a clean out day. Another thing I do is to drink 6-8 bottles of water a day on top of any coffee or tea. In the beginning I drank some Sprite Zero ,but I haven't had a carbonated drink in over a month. I just keep actually craving better foods and water more than a soft drink.

Walgreens. A nurse friend of mine who is doing keto said the urine strips aren't accurate but they would at least show that you were either in, or not in ketosis.

if you eat 20g of net carbs or lower a day you are in ketosis...no need for testing

If you eat about a pound of kimchi a day you'll be in ketosomething. If I ate nothing for 3 days, I still couldn't eat kimchi.

Very interesting. I had decided that I wasn't going to have a "cheat" day anyway, because I didn't want to kick out of ketosis.

Boys and girls, I just checked and I am in Ketosis! I can almost smell the fat burning LOL You over 1 mmol/L? My blood tester came in today. 1.3 mmol/L Down 7 pounds in 7 days after losing 3 or so pounds in the previous couple or 3 weeks of eating low fat, healthy carb diet. I’m sure some of it is water weight but weight is weight. I feel good and have more energy and stamina than I did a week ago. I’m doing an 18 hour per day intermittent fast in conjunction with eating a Keto Diet. The first couple of days I ate mostly animal protein and fat. I have since mostly changed to trying to eat at least 1/2 my fat from vegetable sources. Today didn’t work out that way but the past couple of days has. One thing that is sort of concerning or confusing is that I feel great until I eat. I feel sluggish, bloated and miserable for an hour or so after eating. It doesn’t matter how little I eat, I still feel that way. This morning after an 18 hour fast all I had for breakfast was ONE boiled egg and still felt like crap until mid morning. Felt really good, then ate lunch, a steak and a lot of steamed broccoli. Felt like crap til about 2pm and felt really good since. Perhaps it’s because I don’t have a gallbladder and my body has to make it on demand. I still don’t know why that would make me feel bad overall. Any ideas on that?

Your body spends a lot of energy digesting fat and protein. The sudden diversion of energy to digestion is likely the cause. Keep it up fur. Keto is definitely the way to go if you want to lose large amounts of weight. I put up a recipe one time for low carb fake mashed potatoes with cauliflower. I’m sure it’s in the buffet forum somewhere. Variety will help keep you going.
