I have been lucky enough to have land right by the house with a few birds on it every year. Not a huge population I usally only take 2 a season of the property and this year is no different I know of 2-3 long beards left after killin 2 already and only having one Jake encounter. Who else runs out of birds and has nowhere else to hunt? Bad thing is I just went and checked a big reclaim and could have killed a strutter, man it’s hard not to pull the trigger
This year I will be planting chufa and will be the first time I will have green Feilds on the property! I’m hoping I can hold more birds with more food and some summer trapping

I'm killing only hens this year. Since chucky is so concerned about our gobbler harvest, I've decided to weed out the hens. It worked for deer, right?

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Sometimes you just have to learn not to post as much on here. It’ll take some time but I bet you’ll get the hang of it.

I'm pretty sure Festus is actually our beloved chucky... Or he sucks chucky before bed every night.
Either way, I'd kick him right in the nuggets just for fun.

I have very few I'm giving mine a chance...i killed my 2nd bird ever opening day only went once since then, I know of 2 more gobblers close but id rather see an increase in population...3 years ago was first time I've ever seen any on our land...but if i wake up and hear one sounding off I may try n get him...

I've been curious how many the 400 acres I hunt holds. I see 9-12 gobblers during deer season, then at least 4 I know of during turkey season. Given that they migrate a good bit during the spring and only live ~3 years, after they've bred the hens I wonder how much benefit you're seeing by only taking one or two. Can you take more (or all) with the same result? Who knows. If you kill all the mature gobblers you have, will others move in that same year to take their place? These are all good questions.

We’ve killed 3 on 900 acres and know of 4 long beards and atleast 6 Jakes left. We done for the year. I could’ve hunted today and chose to let the population grow. I’ve killed 3 this year and that’s plenty for me. I’d like to kill someone else’s turkeys now.

Only seeing one Jake has me discouraged! I was hoping we had a good batch herenlst year. Last season I only killed one out of 3 I knew of and those 2 are still around I believe! I’ve been seeing and hearing 2 in same area

Guess I’ve never had a place that has so many birds where I could even consider leaving some for seed. I try to kill every one I can to get a limit. But that’s just me.

Saving gobblers this time of year so they can get older, gobble less, get harder to kill, and run off two year olds next year. Smart.

Why I asked! Trust me it’s hard not to want to kill every one I get the opportunity to! But with not a lot of birds around is why I haven’t tried to kill more. I’ve heard of guys killin every bird they heard a season one a piece of property and the next year not hear or see a bird! I like to hear them and I’m lucky I have birds I can go hear and hunt. Seems like a lot folks don’t have birds to hear gobble!
