Beautiful morning here, minus any gobbling.

We’ve been on a bird that was henned up. Slipped to the edge of the field and my fiancé shot a Jake that was with him. Tall grass and shot the first redhead we saw. Her first bird! We are both pumped up!

Yeah, well, I always heard there were three kinds of suns in Kansas: sunshine, sunflowers, and sons-of-bitches.

Beautiful morning and he was fired up early then got rather quiet. Hens kept pulling him away but after moving then moving back to the same area he slowly came in. I had figured he would peak over right in front of Stephen but he stayed a little back and all I could see for 20 minutes was fan then head. His hen got fired up right before he slipped into position for Stephen and he started easing back off. A jake came in to 15 yds and I knew at any minute we were busted so I got aggressive and he stuck close till the jake putted. When he raised that head up I sent a load of 9s his way and didn’t even know if I connected till Stephen ran over the hill. I hate he didn’t get to pull the trigger or even see him when I could. Not often you watch one gobble 20 times under 40 yds. It doesn’t get much better then this on a gorgeous Easter morning. [Linked Image][/img]

Went out for my second turkey hunt ever this morning. Had one gobbling at fly down time and we played a little back and forth for half an hour till he shut up at about 100 yards. He came out into a roadbed looking for me and wasn't willing to commit walking my way. I tried to add in a pot call to my calling routine this morning and I definitely need more practice with it.

Not sure what I enjoyed more between listening to the quail whistle at first light and hearing a turkey gobble for the second time ever in the wild.

I totally get why y'all like this turkey hunting. Hopefully I can go again one or two more times.

Congrats Austin.

I took little man to a new place yesterday morning that I leased all turkeys rights to on Saturday afternoon for next year and we heard several birds. Things looks really good for next year.
