An interesting talking point from the bill.

"(c) The commissioner may, without refund, suspend
9 the use of a baiting privilege license and adopt rules to
10 manage the feeding of wild game animal populations on a
11 county, regional, or statewide basis to prevent the spread of
12 diseases among wildlife by announcing the suspension in a news
13 release.

I'd like to thank the state of Alabama's legislature for giving me confirmation that I chose wisely in my decision 2 years ago to start deer hunting in Tennessee.

So they're gonna get as much revenue as possible, then as soon as CWD gets back in the news, they're gonna suspend, without refund, all baiting, and go back to writing tickets. That way they can get the baiting permit revenue AND the hunting over bait revenue at the same time....

GENIUS!

I'm not sure it will. You could still put out corn/bait before and be legal, you just couldn't hunt in the area. We all know what the area definition is. Now, you could put out the exact same amount and just hunt closer to it. I think it will increase the sale of corn, but there is no real way to know how prevalent "outlaw" corning was before.

Also, I haven't seen anything that will roll back the 100 yard and out of sight definition of area so that could still be legally done, as far as I can tell. There are too many variables and unknowns.

Coooorrrrrrnnnnn Tide! Corn!

Can't wait for the shitshow that will come from all this.

Hogwild, I'm especially interested in seeing all the honest, law-abiding hunters who will pay for a permit. One hundred thousand don't abide by the existing rules or regs regarding baiting or checking deer. Why are they suddenly going to fork over money to be legal?

But, whatever. Won't affect me and what I do.

Also:

"(4) A person who is exempt from purchasing a hunting license shall not be exempt from the requirement to purchase a bait privilege license pursuant to this section.

Children under the age of 16 that are not required to have a license?

I would say yes. Baiting... Has nothing to do with taking kids hunting. You can take them hunting all you want it will just cost you $15 to teach them to sit over a feeder.

I think it will be widely accepted. I think that people who don't even intend to hunt over bait will still purchase the license just to be on the safe side. I think many of those who are doing it now will gladly pay the money just to be legal. Many see baiting equal with hunting over natural food or food plots. I think the biggest resistance will be from the land owner crowd and the over 65 crowd that are not used to buying licenses. Just my gut feeling...

Anybody have 250 acres of flat ground with great soil, a big tractor, a combine, a couple of haul trucks, oh and somebody to run a corn farm operation? Sounds like a good time to start investing in corn.
